Judges Destroy Trump in Utter Ballroom Humiliation | The Daily Beast Podcast

The Daily Beast | August 8, 2026

Hugh Dougherty joins Joanna Coles to break down the stunning court ruling that could bring Donald Trump’s controversial White House ballroom project to a halt—and why legal experts believe the decision leaves even the Supreme Court with few easy options. They also dive into Todd Blanche’s path to attorney general despite fierce opposition from Epstein survivors, the political fallout for Senate Republicans, Trump’s own admission that Republicans could be headed for a brutal midterm defeat, and alarming new economic data that threatens his political standing. Along the way, they discuss White House leaks, growing unrest inside Trump’s orbit, and why the administration’s biggest battles may be just beginning in what could become one of the most consequential weeks of Trump’s presidency.

Trump’s behaviour over the White House and proposed ballroom is so reminiscent of property tycoons in the seventies in London and I believe New York. In London in I think ‘74 over the Easter Weekend, the last Georgian factory in the City of London which was built on a small rise, a small mound, over the weekend two bulldozers slipped into neutral and somehow trundled up the mound and smashed into the corners of the building causing much of it to collapse. It’s the same mentality every structure can be improved every surface can be enhanced. And if you’re president there are so many buildings and surfaces to embellish. The man’s an obsessive nut job builder with bad taste.

Is Todd Blanche going to be asked to deny lots of the election results (assuming the attempts to fix them in advance fail)? No, he's going to be ORDERED to do so. And he will. I see hundreds of commenters, and dozens of supposedly well-informed journalists and Democratic politicians, talking about what will happen when the Democrats take the House and possibly the Senate. I've been saying for months that Trump will not accept loss of either house of Congress, and will order his minions not to. American democrats (lower-case "d") should be preparing NOW for a general strike, a tax strike, and converging marches on Washington DC to thwart what will be an outright attempted coup.

As I understand it J&H these judges have allowed Trump to continue building his Führerbunker underneath the old East Wing, and only paused construction of the above ground monstrosity. Is this correct 🧐⁉

Joanna, you and your team are a diamond shining brilliantly for investigative journalism. Please appeal to all Senator's wifes. They strongly need to get their husbands back in line to help victims and stop the fall of the USA republic. Stop Todd and get back to love, truth, right versus wrong, preventing sexual misconduct, and stop those who are taking what is not given.

Murkowski, like Collins, never votes against Trump when it would make a difference. And everybody, including Murkowski, knew what Cassidy was going to do! If he was prepared to vote for RFK Jr*, with the predictably disastrous consequences of that betrayal of the American people, of course he was going to vote for Blanche, when the consequences are negligible, because if he hadn't been confirmed, Blanche would simply have continued as Acting AG.

    *Still Jr at 72.

Speaking of balls; Trump uses the balls of his executive team as a Newton’s Cradle; giving them the occasional flick to watch them swing back and forth in perfect, spineless synchronisation.

A Trump-connected oil company is landing drilling equipment on the shores on Greenland. They openly announced that they're be drilling in October, without approval and against that country's wishes. This ballroom nonsense is a distraction.
