Used to love this guy.
Now that he's gained experience, it's just hemming and hawing, and the overdone attitude thing to move jokes along.
No originality, like before.
Come back. Bro.

15:15 What's funny to me is that hantavirus is a constant worry for any kind of field archeology or geology student or construction worker, basically anyone who digs a lot. When the name started popping up in the news, I was like, "Yup. Oh, people don't know about this?" To that group of people, the subject is timeless. Wear your respirator.

I've been listening to Josh's comedy for about 2 years – never been disappointed. He's easy to listen to because he's accessible, hilarious, & thought-provoking, with an easy flow.
Also, Josh is right to refer to the importance of "community" during his stand-up; support can really help.

God he reminds me of my oldest child. Older soul, gentle heart, crazy intelligence. I adore him.
I absolutely love that i got to see him in small clubs so many times before he got gigantic, but holy hell i loved seeing him at the Beacon too.
He really does present as a kind Carlin, but anyone who knows Carlin’s process knows Josh is leaps and bounds ahead of him. Carlin was an essay writer, essentially. Josh is presenting full hours sometimes in the same 24 hour news cycle of an event. And it’s fucking funny. I don’t think a lot of people have any idea how hard that is. He’s brilliant and everything just seems so deserved. I’m not sure if he’s been meeting every single person after his shows this year, but he 100% has done that at a lot of the shows I’ve attended.
He’s seriously the best.

The Paris Commune that formed after France’s defeat in the Franco-Prussian war of in late 1817 introduced progressive reform like separation of Church and State, allowing workers to form unions, and abolishing child labour, and for that, the French army stormed the commune and killed an estimated 10-20k and imprisoning or exiling the rest.
So yes, in the sense that they were killed, a commune has never worked. Except for when it was working. If it wasn’t working they wouldn’t have felt the need to crush it. They could have just let it fall apart on its own.
@xbsdbsdbx
June 14, 2026 at 1:25 am
The idea that no commune has ever worked is also incorrect. There’s been communes that worked just fine up until the police or the army came and broke them up and killed people.
Completely ahistorical.

The idea that no poverty wages would mean no iPhones or Amazon is completely ridiculous and not true. At all. Amazon doesn’t need CEOs and board members to function. It needs workers. Taking away their obscene wealth doesn’t mean Amazon and Apple would just evaporate. It could easily continue as normal just without some leeches at the top sucking up all the wealth.

Probably inflicted on him by his horrible ridiculous racist brother

Very interesting conversation. I enjoy learning about people like this, and seeing their perspective of life. I remember when I finally felt like I was getting ahead in finances and I didn’t have to limit my purchases. It was just timing and luck. Every couple years I was changing jobs and fortunately get more and more money, even if it was just a dollar an hour more.

Kind. Josh Johnson is a kind person and it was nice to see this softer conversation with Neal Brennan, who I feel like feeds off the energy of who he is interacting with. The ability to feel someone's energy is part of what makes Neal an excellent writer, but it was good to see kindness. Josh is an excellent writer too.

I get what he’s saying about not watching them later but I disagree in the context of Josh’s work. Josh’s sets are often really topical so they will be a little time capsule of what was happening at the time and where society was at. I wonder where we will be in 10 or 20 years, but I’m pretty sure Josh’s stuff will still be funny

To me, as another born and raised in the south Josh is like a normal well-raised young man. This what people use to refer to as the southern way, when manners and kind behavior and casual chit chat and respect is the norm. I am the southern born of my family, the rest are from upstate NY and the differences on some common manners and behaviors were interesting.
