Jon Laster | The Throughline Is Habits | Mike Birbiglia’s Working It Out Podcast
Comedian Jon Laster returns for his third appearance on Mike Birbiglia’s Working It Out. Longtime friends from the Comedy Cellar, Mike and Jon catch up on Jon’s app Blapp, which highlights black-owned businesses, Jon’s more personal comedy material about his struggles with alcoholism, and why Jon calls his company “Thanks Mom.” Plus, Mike and Jon ponder how it is that Mike, despite working in nightclubs, has never even seen cocaine.

Shit, I was 12 when Rodney King was nearly beat to death ON CAMERA in 1991. I was hopeful that because it was on camera the criminals would be put in prison. Ha! Those bastards got away with that! I still cant believe they did 33 years later. I remember watching them on the news after the verdict, smiling, unapologetic, and disgusting.

"Pull yourself up by your bootstraps" (makes own boots and gives people access to bootstraps) "You're app is racist!"

I tried the app, unfortunately it is not working very well. At least for me.

It sounds like Mike was helpful in Jon's early career, but it's also good to acknowledge that the shitty white people that Jon encountered really set a loooow bar…

Finishiative? I like it.
May I suggest finessetination?
The subtle art of not finishing a project before it’s fully thought out from a practical standpoint. Tactcrastination? 🤔
