Jon Bon Jovi Walks Off Stage Mid-Concert: “I’m Hurt”

Rock Feed | July 26, 2026

Jon Bon Jovi stopped his own show at Madison Square Garden on Thursday, July 23, telling the crowd “I’m sorry, I’m hurt and you’re not getting the best of me” before walking off with nine songs still on the set list. It was night eight of Bon Jovi’s nine-night MSG residency — the first tour the band has played since surgeons rebuilt one of Jon’s vocal cords in 2022.

He made it fourteen songs, roughly ninety minutes. Before the last one he told the room he knew he was letting them down. Train’s Pat Monahan came out to help him through “Livin’ on a Prayer,” and for most of it Jon held the mic out and let twenty thousand people sing it. Then he told fans to hold onto their ticket stubs, said he’d figure out a reschedule, and left the stage — adding, in the same breath, “I feel great.”

Singing high hard rock songs is bad for a middle-aged man. Best thing an old man should do to live to 100? quit singing rock & do some earthing & grow tomatoes.

When a musician can't do it anymore, they die inside. So hopefully he finds a balance that allows him to continue expressing what's inside, so it doesn't burn him up.

Couldn’t have happened to a better person…..I knew him when he was young and he was one of the nastiest kids I knew. He also did not grow up at the Jersey Shore, as far as I remember he only lived there with a family member for a short time when he was thrown out of school in his hometown of Sayreville. He is full of BS.

I don't know why he was so insistent on touring anyway, the band has become more like Jon Bon Jovi and Friends. PhilX just makes them all look older, he's the only real energy on the stage.

The Years, The Days, The Hours by: Easy Sop Media. Sometimes ya just got to let go, it's time. You should sing this one last song and then end it. It's all about time and memories. A song EVERY person on the planet can relate to.

Retire already, Jon. It's over. None of us goes on forever. You might end up damaging your vocal cords so bad you won't be able to speak, sort of like RFKjr. Just be done. Much easier and to be honest, the truth.

I cannot stand him personally b/c of the way he tried to screw over Bills fans, but no one wants to see this. Runaway is one of my favorites but he just can't do it anymore. Maybe a capo? LOL

Damn dude….don't be sorry….just accept the fact your singing voice is gone & retire(rather than wasting your fans' money.) Going on stage with wrecked vocal chords, is tantamount to Richie Sambora trying to play guitar with 3 fingers missing.

I’ve watched a lot of singers that needed the money late in life that had no business singing. But he’s uber wealthy and just loves being there. Time to retire sounds like.

I've read all the comments and I have to say I am shocked, I once enjoyed the music of the 80s, and I went to a concert in Queensland Australia to see Bonjovi, loved it, but as time takes it's toll, we have to know when it's time to quit. Know your limits. Thanks for the memories. You work in the soup kitchen helping the poor, I have to wonder if all that cigarette smoking has done you damage ?. You can't take it back and be your young self again. Enjoy what time you have left. You've earned a rest. You were blessed by your good looks, and supportive people who got you through.

And some other song with Tommy and Gina… more than 20 years, really enjoyed it. Thank you.

I'm not a huge Bon Jovi fan per se, but let me explain a couple things here. Musicians WANT TO perform. Barring previous injury, it should be possible to continue.
We, the fans, WANT TO GO TO SHOWS. And those we grew up listening to, especially if we've not seen them before, are a draw fir many reasons. Music today, in general, sucks. Autotune is all I hear, and rap crap coming out of cars. The haters shoukd realky stfu because we are all gonna try and squeeze all the music we still can outta life

I am a singer and have had some training and at 63 still have all my range and power but I am a natural baritone and my range for my chest voice only extends to a few whole steps above middle C and I rarely screamed or blasted, Bon Jovi had a great timbre for a rock vocalist and as more of a natural tenor regularly went on blast as those songs and melodies are written in keys where some of the most dramatic sections are several whole steps above that. Its anatomically impossible to basically scream out those high notes night after night for years without unfixable damage. He could sing them in a lower key but would probably feel more disappointment than his fans, he seems like a good person in life but time and fate rarely spare any of us, he still has a lot to offer musically but doesnt posess the one thing we all wish for in these situations which is a time machine.
