It’s like the wind knew what I was singing the day I shot with Western AF. Tucked away in the woods on Mike LoPinto’s ranch, we started filming. It had been a dream of mine to do a video with Western AF. I first spoke that dream out loud a year ago to Mike LoPinto, and I couldn’t believe that dream had become a tangible moment in time. I chose to sing my song The Show because it’s story is autobiographical. Inspired by the murder of crows that moved into my backyard, this song is an anthem that turns pain into power — a song to show that underdogs, such as myself, can be filled with unassuming grit, and a declaration that quiet strength can be the most dangerous kind.

With Mike LoPinto on banjo and Mike Vanata behind the camera, I felt supported and was given permission to be honest with them. I let them know how nervous I was, since this was such a big dream for me to finally achieve. I worried I couldn’t do my words and song justice. We had agreed this would be our last take — and what would be, would be. As I began to sing the song for the very last time, I think the wind heard me, breezing around us to remind me that I have a power that may not always be seen but can always be felt, as long as I let it be.

And with that, here is a video that means so very much to me. It’s a video I once thought I’d never be brave enough to do, because of how knocked down life had left me. But, as The Show explains — it’s not about how many times you fall, but about how many times you rise and rise again, each time stronger than the time before.

    It's 4am in New Zealand and this just popped up in my feed. Absolute magic. Immediately followed and looking forward to an album. Also what a killer recording this is, the production is massively on point. Even in the breeze that provided such a gorgeous moment in the video, it still sounds like a studio quality recording, outdoors.

    Can yall put these artists’ YouTube channels in your descriptions? They’re all amazing, and you do a great job of promoting them already, but linking their socials would be huge for them. Jess has less than 1K subscribers.
