This was an extraordinary interview. As someone who worked at Blizzard and with Jeff, I can confirm none of this is PR talk, this is exactly who he is as a person and a professional. Humble, caring, and an absolute nerd for all he loves. I was heartbroken when he left the company, and I am happy to hear and support his future projects.

Thank you for the ECT info note on screen. It is a very effective way to treat many cases of mental health issues and shouldn't be disparaged or have negative stigma so people will get help if they need it.

Never watched a 5 hour interview before but it was well worth it…best of luck Jeff with California and I know I'm very much looking forward to early access!

I have been listening to your podcast since you started and there has been so many great and interesting discussions. But for me this is among the top 3 you have ever made! Such a lengthy discussion with such a top tier game designer as Jeff Kaplan has been a real treat to listen to. <3 This shows what Blizzard to some extent has missed since he and those similar to him have left.

Keep up the great work Lex and I hope to see Jeff Kaplan return in the future for maybe a more general discussion regarding video games, game design and its effect on the world and its players.

14:05 Immagine being Stephen Heaslip and hearing you played a big role in how one of the OG Blizzard legends became that legend. That would sure stroke my ego big time 😄

This is one of the guys responsible for the major downturn in the WoW player base. Completely disconnected from the players and has no idea what they like. He helped make the game for HIM, not for players.

And this is why AAA games are shit these days while the small Indy companies are making bangers. Blizzard and WoW go side by side in the timeframe of when they switched from making games we love to play, to making as much money as soon as possible. Sad times

3:56:26 yea I think the biggest points of contention when playing overwatch is when something requires you too have a competent team too beat.
For example the 3 most banned heros I see an even according too the stats the one time they disclosed that info too us, was zarya, sombra an sym. Well sombra can just pop outta no where an shut your hero down without aim. Which if you're alone feels horrible but if you're with a team it does nothing for the sombra, which is just not gonna feel good for either party because it's out of their hands an entirely in the hands of the team.
Zarya being a hero who if my junkrat can't control his trigger discipline, I now gotta face a raid boss tank who makes bastion feel like the tickle monster. An sym just had annoying turrets that arent interactive for many heros, I mean most tanks can't even reach them. So they rely soley on their team too break these things that slow you.. which feels miserable.

the page quest in ashenvale was the first time i used the auctionhouse so it wasn't so bad, definitely got people talking in general chat 😀 Also it's fine for creations to suck, but nobody has a right to your money for things that suck. the creative paradox of involving money giving you more options but also less options.
