Personally, I'm a 12 year old boy and I don't really get as immersed as you say kids do. I think it's because I did reasearch on vr before I asked for a quest 2 on my birthday and all about how it works and how it gives the illusion of depth. Also if an adult lives alone and plays vr shouldn't they experience the same level of immersion kids do?

Why can’t you find a straight forward answer to the question ‘is it safe for children to use vr and if so at what age ?
The company’s that produce these items should know this surly ,,,

Social media is already disastrous for mental health. Such a development could be absolutely disastrous yet has such great potential. It all depends on weather or not people will be responsible and rational or emotional and impulsive. We already live in a very impulsive society, one of if it feels good do it rather than if it does good do it.

I'm 32 and remember having 2 NES consoles at my pre-school so I've been gaming since at least the beginning of the 90s. Within the past 5-10 years my gaming life has been pretty stagnant with my time dedicated to gaming being very specific and shorter and shorter the older I get. I just got my Valve Index a little over a week ago. More and more I find myself breaking my rules of when I should or shouldn't be gaming just so I can go back into the VR world to continue my experience. I find it increasingly easier to immerse myself into the virtual space and create lasting memories that proliferate my conscious life, in turn bringing me back to the virtual experience more and more often. This technology is new, but will surely be the forefront of communication technology within the decades to come. Long live VR.

I’m 11 and I’m gonna play my VR for the first time today my mom letting me get used to the controls and then setting a timer for an hour for me to play some games. It’s a oculus quest BTW

Edit I JUST PLAYED IT AND HOLY HELL SO FUN!!!!!

People tell kids what virtual reality is and I’m not surprised none of them said this: “
the computer-generated simulation of a three-dimensional image or environment that can be interacted with in a seemingly real or physical way by a person using special electronic equipment, such as a helmet with a screen inside or gloves fitted with sensors.” But it would be funny if a kid said that.
