Is This Really the End of Ghost?

Rock Feed | August 28, 2026

Tobias Forge says if the Skeletour was the last thing Ghost ever did, he’s fine with it. In a new Kerrang cover story he calls the tour a great finale and admits he has no idea for another album.

Rock Feed breaks down the Tobias Forge hiatus quotes, why there’s no new Ghost album or EP, the stadium shows he turned down, his move into film, and whether Papa V Perpetua is done.

Well the first three albums and the shows for those were genius. After Meliora and he fired the whole band and hired the rental ghouls, really it went downhill from there. Speaking as a former fan from the prior days.

we need to have a hard look at the club and find the faults a big fault at the moment is recruitment its shambolic that are bringing in empty jerseys players that are not good enough and cant preform for rangers we have had dire recruitment under thelwell jr and purdy they sign the players that the manager requests and hasnt gotten . any manager would suffer with this team and the recruitment and he cant implement a style when the players are not good enough to follow tactics and instructions . we are rangers fans and we need to think of whats best for the club and i think we need graeme souness to come in and overhaul the club from the background and we will need to ship out the dross as soon as we can and bring in players with passion that will fight for rangers . its gonna be a rough season and we need to sack thelwell jr and purdy and sort out the recruitment

I loved their first two albums. Very Raw and the lore was so cool. But you have to trade the lore for the music. Once we knew who they were it kind of ruined that. BUT the music evolved in a big way. Tobias is a talented guy and super cool. I am happy to be able to ride the GHOST train for as long as it ran. NEMA!

The poor guy just needs a break. In a recent interview he said he fell out of love with what he was doing. But he promised himself he would have to get back on the horse and guide the ship into a better place before getting off completely. Make of that what you will. Touring is brutal and he just got finished with a gigantic tour, he needs some time to just be Tobias, the husband and father.

Glad he knows he needs a break and wants to take one. I would hate to see him and his work suffer. Very thankful I got to see them during the Infestissumam and Prequelle eras, but man this last tour looked incredible! I’d be pretty surprised too if Ghost didn’t return. Even Tool came back with a new album after many years.

Not a fan of Ghost couple of songs I do like though. The big problem is after your first album these damn managers, labels and such just push and push for new music do it fast kind of thing cause they're only about the money. Yes you have to get a few albums out but then you should slow down a bit, do like Disturbed does make a new album approximately ever 3 year's so you don't get burned out you have that time to spend with your family.

97% of bands don't even know what to do when they sit with the manager's, label's and such before you make your first album take 2 or 3 month's learn about business before you sit down with the big wigs. That's 1 thing I've always liked about Metallica when I was a huge fan their business savoy back earlier day's they sat down and said this is what we want they are 1 of very few bands that made lots of money off their album sales, today's bands make no money off album sales cause they don't know anything about the business side of it. I mean look after the black album Metallica could basically do whatever they wanted alot of bands don't get that kind of freedom, get some business smarts then sit at the table. The music industry today shit since early 2000s has been guttural you gotta be kind of fierce with these people.

He’s smart. He’s made his money doing what he loves and now he’s tired and wants to make up all those years away from home. We all get burnt out and need a break. Ghost will return one day I have no doubt

Well, besides the fact that the music business is a BUSINESS, musicians are not factory workers. If he has achieved what he wanted artistically, or if he is currently "dry" from a creative point of view, why shouldn’t he decide to stop? He will be able to put food on the table even if Ghost doesn't work, not to mention that this is not the only way to make money if he needs it – which I don't think. It's a subjective opinion (like everyone else's), but Ghost has already passed its zenith. For me, the first 3 albums were great musically and conceptually, and from a production point of view, I also really liked Impera from the later albums.

If he wants to take a breather, Trae time out or even put Ghost to bed that’s fine. I love Ghost and the Ghost shows I’ve been to have been some of the best rock shows I’ve ever seen. But if he’s exhausted it’s not going to benefit anyone in the long term to keep him on the treadmill. Tobias did different things before Ghost, so I know he’ll come up with something cool even if it’s not Ghost
