Is The New Queen Song Any Good?

Justin Hawkins Rides Again | November 3, 2025

You may be surprised to learn I have not listened to Queen’s new song “Face It Alone” until right now. I was a bit apprehensive about listening to it, maybe because I’m such a huge Queen and Freddie Mercury fan. You’re always worried it might be a let down or not live up to expectations. However, when has Freddie Mercury ever disappointed anyone with that voice?! What do you think of this new unheard track? Also…sorry the clips are so short, they were really strict about the copyright on this one, I could barely get away with any!!

I find in incredibly that even to this day, people have such an emotional connection to his voice and talent. I have alwase had a soft spot for Freddie as i was brought up listening to Queen but i am alwase supprised by how others, even those that have never listened to queen befor fall in love with the band. Goes to show how good they really were. Such a sad loss even to this day.

It's incredibly good, and wonderful to hear Freddies voice again, although I can probably see why it wasn't included on The Miracle. It's tone probably fits more with Innuendo, but hell, Innuendo was packed with great songs too. Incredibly important we Queen fans got to hear it, and as I said it's very good, but ultimately out of that era, the best you can say is, it's better than My Baby Does Me lol.

Love your channel btw – late to the party but you seem like such a congenial and nice chap. Subbed!

I wonder why they never released their version of New York New York from the highlander movie, I don't think it's ever been released in it's entirety.

I don`t mean to be rude Justin, but could you not just be quiet and listen to the thing, without trying to play it, and sing along ? How can you sing along if you have not heard it before ?

Justin, I would love your opinion on something. I used to love this band called heavens basement and they are sadly no more. Members went their individual ways. Their (2nd) singer Aaron Buchanan is one of the most amazing rock voices I've ever heard. He's really got a set of lungs on him. I've found a video of him covering Freddie's 'Love Of My Life'. Just goose bumps, its almost surreal how much he sounds like Freddie in that song. Promise you'll look it up??? https://youtu.be/M4VIlIGE0aI

Freddy has a set of templates in melody and vocal techniques in vocals. It is not surprising that this is sometimes repeated and similar to each other. The more templates and patterns, the more experienced the musician, and the way he connects them together speaks of his creative size. This is common to all famous musicians.

Freddie really was an extraordinary and unique talent, unquestionably a genius and arguably the greatest frontman for a rock band. I haven’t listened to the whole track, and most likely won’t, as it just can’t measure up to what Queen produced in their pomp.

Got to remember that Freddie, was dying at the time, so he was looking for anything to sing to secure his legacy. They also said that each song on the albums was written by one member and accredited to the hold band. We all miss that awesome vocals of Freddie.
