A hostage crisis in which the media were more involved than the police. But was what they were doing criminal?

“The Gladbeck hostage crisis (known in Germany as the Gladbeck hostage drama) was a hostage-taking crisis that happened in August 1988 after an armed bank raid in Gladbeck, North Rhine-Westphalia, West Germany. Two men with prior criminal records, Dieter Degowski and Hans-Jürgen Rösner, went on the run for two days through Germany and the Netherlands.
On 18 August 1988 the hostage situation was put to an end in a police operation on the A3 motorway. Three people were killed during this crisis – two teenage hostages and a policeman involved in a vehicle crash. The whole episode became a media circus in Germany and the Netherlands.”

    they do the same in m@ss shootings, they have guns and the people in danger don't but they still wanna stay back because they're cowards who will never risk putting themselves in danger to save others.

    this pisses me off, whoever is making the decision making for that hostage crises needs to be trialed.
    they should have shot these 2 men the second they left the bank.
    can't believe they k!lled an innocent 15 year old, this was almost funny until that.

    You should've noted that it's suspected that the injury of the girl was from a police weapon. The shootout was crazy and the police shot from all directions. And still they didn't hit the perpertraitors. A forensic expertize about the gun shot wound and the projectile was " inconclusive"

    The absolute worst part of this to me is the fact that these monkeys probably kept Silke Bischoff with them when they let the others go because she was so beautiful. As soon as I saw the first picture of the hostages on the bus, I said to myself "They'll probably single this girl out" and lo and behold in the subsequent images I see this subhuman, low IQ ape Degowski deliberately keeping himself close to her in the car because he was a pathetic wretch and probably enjoyed being close to and having power over a pretty girl. Rösner was a pathetic, bedwetting, stuttering ape. Degowski was recently released. The German legal system sucks. I hope he never knows peace, but he's such a simpleton he probably lives day to day without any sort of self reflection like the lower animal he is.

    Every time I think American media is bad I get reminded what European journalists can do and I feel much much better. In the states they could be charged with being an accomplice and they would never get a new identity provided. I mean what the hell are you thinking??? Why don’t you just pay them to commit crimes?

    I am 100% convinced that this would happen again these days in Germany. I love our police. I think they are doing an excellent job. But they are not trained for violence. A little shooting at the range. A little deescalation and every 50 officers there is one who actually can fight or tackle. But 99% of the job it isnt necessary and even unwise. And in the US cops treat 99% of cases lie they are the violent 1% and in germany they treat the vioent 1% like all other cases. Both are extremes. But its hard to find that common ground.

    So one of the robbers was released in 30 years after killing two people and taking hostage and gets a new identity and lives in annoniminity? While in Asia if someone just has drugs they get executed to death. This worlds laws are weird.
