Hi. New follower here. I'm 55 and just got diagnosed with adhd which was a fight but i really think i have audhd. Always diagnosed with depression and anxiety. It never seemed to fit. I think i was misdiagnosed or never diagnosed because unbeknownst to me I was masking pretty good. To maintain that is exhausting. I think I had burnout. Anyway, getting a diagnosis is almost like a sigh of relief. I just wanted to let you know how incredibly talented you are. So much so that your way of thinking was almost made just for me. If that makes sense. Those Murder She Wrote and Columbo videos are top tier pieces of art to me. I actually was laughing out loud. The references are so niche and hysterical. May I suggest Matlock? Another comfort watch for me since the 80's. I hope you can see how special you are.

Hi @roses, I'm 51 so not young. But I remember in my mid 20s/early 30s also not knowing who I was. For me or was not a matter of any particular diagnosis but rather was just a part of growing up as an awkward teen and young adult. When you're going through it you don't appreciate that it might just be a part of your life you've got to go through to come out the other end.
At some point my life settled down. I traveled abroad, met my wife of 20 years (also a traveler) and eventually we had a little girl in my late 40s – I thought I'd be a parent, until I was. Now we've left the US and are our family in New Zealand. But none of this happened at once…. It was just one small step at a time. And I haven't felt like I didn't know myself for a very long time now.
No idea whether this is relevant to you personally but just thought I'd share my perspective.

I'm fairly certain I have some kind of personality disorder, but I've learned to embrace it in recent years. At some point I just realized that (as Popeye would say) I am what I am, so I might as well just go along with it and enjoy the ride. I'm not saying this to downplay your own feelings or experiences, but there comes a point where you have to face the fact that we live in a strange world, and are forced to endure a lot of hardships that we'd rather not experience. The best advice I can give anyone who is suffering from some kind of identity crisis is to tell you that you're probably just a very analytical person, and you may be focusing too much on yourself. Try searching outside of yourself for something more meaningful.
* On a side note, I have noticed a lot of people from our generation are stuck in a very similar [unhealthy] pattern. It's the mentality that believes that "I can do anything", or "I was made to do something special", when in reality you're just a regular human like everyone else. You don't have to be in the spotlight to be someone, so don't fall for that nonsense. The sooner you realize that we're all just people with different stories who are living a shared experience, the sooner you're learn that you don't need to "be somebody" in order to know who you are. I've been around enough "entertainers" to know how ridiculous they are in real life. Just be yourself and try your best to ignore the noise around you.

Omg I hope you see this but if you haven't heard of the podcast "Dark Arts Society Podcast" please have a look! It's by an amazing dark/creepy artist Chet Zar who used to be a practical effects artist for movies like The Blob and Zombie movies (20 years of amazing work I just forget the names). But the podcast is SO incredible, it's always about art but almost always goes down a mental health route. It's been so cool to listen to. He's such a cool sweetheart metal head guy and just so loveable. He was a monster kid (still is) and his art would be right up your alley I think! Has similarities to yours! And the artists he gets in are so amazing. I think you'd loooooove to listen to it while you make pottery! ❤

Roses, I first started watching your videos back on thatguywiththeglasses, and you've always brought me such joy with your videos whether you're talking about adventure games, art, murder mysteries, or just life stuff. I hope pottery can bring you a fraction of the joy you've been able to give other people! Coincidentally I watched Crazy Ex-Girlfriend recently and like the Dream Ghost said, love doesn't always need to be romantic. Maybe pottery is that love.

Hey PUR, 51yr old guy who has fought anxiety, depression, PTSD, and Suicidal Ideation here. I feel for you and understand how hard it is. I am sure that people say to you all the time that you are successful, and beautiful and have nothing to worry about and they don't understand that when the depression hits that it cares not all about those things. Depression and anxiety is so deep and subconscious that what we do in our daily lives just doesn't make a dent. You and your channel has helped me often just to step out and have a laugh and I am in debt to you for it. All I can say is do anything you need to do to keep your head afloat. (Outside of addiction to drugs and booze.) Buy yourself something totally stupid that makes you happy. Or watch the dumbest thing possible just to feel something different. It's a day to day struggle. Be kind to yourself.

Really glad that the OF ended up helping. And also glad you brought up Crazy Ex Girlfriend because if you didn’t I was going to. The only thing that puzzles me is your surprise that people want to hear you talk about King’s Quest 5… do you not remember how your channel started?

I appreciate your honesty. On the identity front, I sometimes feel like I am floating in a body and not living in one. So my identity is not tethered to anything. I am glad at least to be in good company

You rarely make a video that's boring. It's great content. I get your point of "feeling lost". I think that what you made here in Youtube and social media is great and you should keep it up. It's entertaining, funny and clever, it's mustly YOU. And you should keep doing and sharing what you love and makes you happy always. 🙂

It's not your fault. Mental health education is soooooooooooooo far behind. I may have BPD myself or similar and I'm still waiting for the NHS to pull their thumbs out of their arses to actually help me (15 years and counting).

First of all…YES YES YES to Elephant Parts and ANYthing having to do with Mike Nesmith and/or the Monkees!!! THANK YOU!!! 🎸🎸🎸🎸
But more importantly, please continue to take care of yourself no matter what. As someone who is creeping closer to 50 by the day, who has dealt with anxiety and depression most of her life, and who was diagnosed with ADHD almost 10 years ago and might also be autistic…oh, and is diabetic on top of all that…your health is extremely important. I suck at self-care big time, but I’m trying to learn how to do it better bc my mom passed away at age 59 from complications caused by diabetes. And as much as I miss her, I know she doesn’t want me to join her too soon. All this to say, I know it’s hard, but we’ve got to hang in there. I’m rooting for you as you pursue your passions, whatever they are. Sending hugs 🤗 ❤

I have bpd too and I understand what you described. I'm not sure how old you are but I've been able to develop my sense of self over the years, and I'm really glad you're in therapy. There's def hope for your future! I began using photography as a serious form of artistic expression when I was about 30. I also do fiber arts now. There are so many ways to go through life, there is no right order. I'm so glad you love ceramics! Be kind to yourself, you are worthy.

Regarding OF. I have several friends that started OF among other things to feel better about themselves.
The other reason was, that they get sexualized anyway and they thought the might as well get paid for it

Hey, Roses. I was just checking up on your channel and watched this. I hope you're well, and know that we appreciate the need to regroup and do some self care. Take care of yourself – and know that you're the recipient of many positive and loving vibes. You're awesome.

I've tried ceramics and I'm not great at it but I would watch spinning stuffs as ASMR forever. If you were to produce those I would watch.
PS: I'm 54. You have time. Go for whatever will bring you joy.

Hey Sarah. I never comment but I just wanted to say that I hope you are well. I've been around the channel a while and I've heard you discuss your mental health issues. I think you are really brave to do that. Me being a man I always pretend nothing is wrong even when I'm dying inside and I've always admired that you could at least talk about what's bothering you. Anyway I pray you are well and we get a murder she wrote or golden girls soon. Take care and God bless
