Is there a single person in the world who respects Dinesh? Even his wife looks down on him. Even his kids are embarrassed. His mum never invites him for sunder dinner. He has ZERO friend.

It's one thing to say that some laws were no longer needed. It's quite another to say that what was just, according to God, became unjust.

Dinesh folds on some easy stuff in my opinion. Alex has good questions, but Dinesh takes this stuff so seriously. All Dinesh had to do was chill a bit. Look at Alex and say, "Ever met an Amalekite? Ever met a Jew?" Which one do you like better? He could relieve tension. Besides, there is allot more to be said of the Amalek, for instance, If you could go back and murder Hitlter and his cohorts even as children would you do it? Same with Amalek, you don't get to meet Amalekites for a good reason, they would have destroyed not only the Jews, but Alex and Dinesh and this whole video probably wouldn't exist if the Amalekites trajectory wasn't completely altered by God's intervention. Gotta think in Layers man. Besides that, military action against other nations especially in that time was dirty business. I mean sure, Israel stacked up the body count even in low population relative to present day. But nowadays, military operations take out huge numbers of people and the world mostly squints at it. Bottom line, God knew what He was doing and it was recorded for a purpose, that purpose is twofold: Man can't touch or change God's covenantal work. 2. God's covenantal work is for the benefit of all humanity. Amalek could have surrendered like the prostitute did and was saved from destruction. But they didn't, so they were destroyed, just like God said they would be. And God hasn't changed, He still says, ""He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." John 3:36 That's a warning in our reality to respond to, it's not a joke and Amalek is the perfect example that remains on record. It's life or death my friends and you can't get away from it.

Yeah they always want to distance themselves from the Old Testament, and go on about the “New Covenant,” but as soon as it comes to gay folks, they haul out Leviticus faster than George Rekers can blow a rent boy.

Better than me if you want a cat talking over me like that I would have slapped him. And you can't find anywhere where an American bomber in World War II bomb 20000 women and children in a building. What I think you're confusing yourself with is the nuclear bombs. The fella with a glasses it's kind of a moron.

"I get sick to death of people hand-waving away this genocide."

Does O'Connor even believe in the Exodus, the conquest of Canaan by the Israelites, the kingship of Saul and the existence of the Amalekites?

I assume not, which makes his sense of outrage somewhat amusing. I also assume his objection is not dependent on this being an historical event, but rather that the story apparently presents an inescapable moral quagmire for the Christian who must either renounce a faith that so clearly approves of acts of slaughter or accept the essential immorality of their religious text, their faith tradition and ultimately themselves.

D'Souza was a bit off his game here, but what he said was essentially correct: hand wringing over this story ultimately misses the point. While scholars and theologians of all stripes have attempted to explain this text in a variety of contexts the truth is, from a believer's perspective, we don't fully know or understand why God ordered the destruction of the Amalekites (assuming the event actually occurred). The story may make us uncomfortable, but we don't presume to judge God or assume that we are HIs moral superior. But what is truly important, and what D'Souza was trying to say I believe, is that given the full and complete text of the BIble and the true essence of Christian teaching properly understood and acted upon, anyone claiming that Christians today should rise up and smite their enemies "with the edge of the sword" and "destroy them utterly" is not speaking for God, but is a heretic speaking from their own, evil heart.

And we should be more concerned about our actions here and now, rather than anxiously fretting about some event that may or may not have happened three thousand years ago.

What’s not mentioned here is the cananites were killing their own children .. they practiced child sacrifice . They would beat their drums loudly as their children screamed. They threw them into the fire.

Even the idea of a "chosen" people doesn't make sense, unless there is some passage of the bible I am unaware of. If we all came from Adam and Eve why are there different clans and tribes of people that god for some reason deems his people and others that he absolutely despises and wants destroyed without any chance of redemption?

ITs crazy, but as a ex believer I get it. However if there is something that is so explicitly explained and so against what we would accept morally, logically or emotionally then 9 times out of 10 we would completely reject and denounce that thing. However. believers, not matter what belief they have, have by definition been brainwashed and it will take years of questioning their beliefs to realise that. It's not going to happen on stage in front of an audience.

It's not genocide, which the apologists keep missing. It's resurrection! That's why God tells them the animals, children, women, even f*%king grass. The whole city must be elevated into the new city, the holy city by the process of the resurrection, not genocide. Jesus Christ, people wake the f up & stop being so dense
