I Went To The Most Boujee Venue To See Extreme Metal
In episode 276 of Heavy Metal Philosophy, Jon Barbas recounts the tale of going to one of the most affluent neighborhoods in Atlanta to see a modern metal show. Jon went to the Buckhead Theatre to photograph Jinjer, Entheos, and Crystal Lake, but the boujee venue made him feel like a fish out of water! Stay awhile and listen.

I was already excited to see this tour next month as Jinjer is my favorite band and I haven't had the chance to catch Entheos yet, but even more so now if they are direct support. I thought they were getting the shorter opening set. I'm curious who Crystal Lake is getting to fill in for the second half of the tour too.

The second time I saw Jinjer was at a beautiful venue in San Antonio called the Aztec Theatre. They were headlining with Born of Osiris and Hanabie in support. I have seen three shows at the Aztec and anyone planning a visit to San Antonio should work in a concert there. Right next to the River Walk, so a great location. In a few days I will be seeing Crystal Lake, Entheos and Jinjer (for the 4th time) at a venue in OKC that looks to be more of your kind of place.

After hearing the description of the town and the venue maybe you were thinking that Ashton Kutcher and Jason Goldberg would come out and say "You just got Punk'd!" and they would play some pop for the rest of the night…sorry I'm really old and that reference shows it.

I saw Entheos with Rivers of Nihil and like 3 other bands and Entheos blew everyone away no competition

๐ง๐ฉdoesn't look THAT fancy. Seen a lot of extreme metal at a whole bunch of fancy LA theaters. Like, theaters that are still getting plays on other nights where people show up wearing suits.

May I critique one thing: the lack of disclosure about your stance with hears. Is this paid? Was it an add? Or you just have worked with them, love them, have a cupom for us and no other dollars are going your way? Anyway, cool video and waiting for the next best of the week, nice gems on last one

I've seen Jinjer twice at the Al Rosa Villa. It's sad they shut that place down. You could feel the ghost of Dimebag every time you walk through the door. Great show.

Sounds like I need to get to Atlanta for a show at some point. We have a ton of venues here but nothing like that. At least that I have been to.

Dude the description you gave of your trip to the venue is so incredible. Well thought out and detailed down to the fine finishes. Sounds like walking into an episode of Heavy Metal Twilight Zone with an excellent outcome ๐ค๐ผ๐ค๐ผ๐ฅ๐ฅ

Fun Buckhead story……….had to take a drunk girl home from the old Masquerade at the request from my buddy who was playing and I ended up getting lost there and had the cops called on me for even being there. Cop was cool and helped me out lol

Saw Amon Amarth at the Tennessee Theater. That's a venue used for theatrical plays so it has the fancy box seats and all that. The worst part was that it had standard seating and not an open floor. So we did the best we could with rows of seats everywhere. The rush to the small section of open floor in front of the stage was real! lol.

Guess I'm going to have to keep an eye out for a show to try and to get to Atlanta. About being boujee though, nothing wrong with being a metal head and enjoying the finer things in life. I own several expensive time pieces and other "boujee" collections but can still be found in a Cannibal Corpse pit any time they come through town. I just won't wear one of those watches.
