7:28 I feel like this is the standard for a lot of arcades. The expensive things are still pretty cheap all things considered.
That being said my loval arcade must be on crack because they have, no joke, nintendo switches and WHOLE ASS SAXOPHONES as the grand prizes. Their expensive as HELL, but theyre there! Like, I'm sure it's not a super expensive saxophone, but it's like, a genuine saxophone, not some plastic one. It still bewilders me when I think about it.
I'm pretty sure the one on the shelves I saw last time I went is the same one that was there when the arcade first popped up. I doubt anyone ever got enough tickets for that.

I love arcades! Almost my entire childhood me, my parents and granny would go to a caravan park once a year and would play the coin drop machines – we were very good and very intense at them, and since the 2p ones only had good prizes the first few years, we probably spent far too much money on the 10p ones, and i had a few meltdowns over having to leave something right on the edge when my parents wouldn't let me spend more money. They also still have tickets so I would save them up over the weekend we were there and I actually got some solid prizes like a piggy bank and some very nice glass figurines.

13:56 okay ik you said this as a joke but last weekend for my sister's bachelorette party we went to a place called "Adventure Zone" to play mini golf and go karts and stuff, and anyway they also had an arcade, and thEY HAD QUIK DROP. So I impressed everyone by almost getting the jackpot a few times, bc I'd seen your video and I've watched it like 20 times bc I'm autistic a normal number of times bc I'm normal, however I was not quite fast enough bc I guess I hadn't taken enough Tylenol but we still got a bunch of tickets from it and from a SpongeBob quarter push game and I was able to get her a bouncy ball, me a plastic unicorn, and her a squishy thingy that you push down and it flies into the air. So thank you Drew for your service and helping my sister and I get a bouncy ball and a plastic unicorn 🫡 (also ftr their games actually still took quarters and dollar bills, generally all cost $1, and they gave physical tickets that you had to put in a machine that counted them and then it gave you a receipt)

4:11 this literally sounds just like me attempting to write the entire dsm-5 (and other things) in a notebook while others are doing normal things like hanging out with friends and going outside

Drew I want you to know that I found a Quick Drop machine at an arcade, and I legit took a picture with it because of this video. I still wonder what the employees thought…some random guy smiling like a dumbass taking a picture with a game that I hadn’t even played yet.

I know I'm 3 years late but it reminds me when I went to the arcade with my grandparents and my grandpa played a sweeper game while I went and had fun, he made hella points and got me cool prizes.

I finally got to try Quik Drop today. I won the jackpot on the second try! The machine I used was a little buggy. It would drop an extra ball sometimes, so I only had to hit the button 3 or 4 times per bucket.

Fun fact: Main Event owns Dave & Buster's now. When you knockoff a knockoff of a knockoff, you come full circle and end up with something better than the orginal 🤣

yesterday i went to an arcade that has the ball dropping game and immediately, my first thought was: "hey, it's just like that drew gooden video!" i'm pretty sure me and my cousins did not profit at all, but we had a great time.

wow imagine if there was an arcade where they paid you back out in money so you didn't have to sell prizes! they could have some games that were chance, and some that were a mix of skill and chance. but what would you call that 🧐

the reason the games cost between 7.5-8.5 tickets instead of displaying the dollar value is because the tickets don't have a consistent dollar value. as the ticket packages go up, you get slightly more tickets per dollar (at a rate of t(d)=7.2507d-50.288, with an r^2 value of 0.9985) (all that means is i plotted out ticket number as a function of dollars spent and had excel graph a straight line that best goes between them, and the r^2 value is how much the number of tickets varies from the expected amount based on that line. like standard deviation but a little different) anyways thats why thats the way that is. if anyone feels like checking my work i used the numbers that aren't crossed out on the board at 2:05 with dollars on the x axis and tickets on the y
edit: the r^2 value means the line is plus or minus approximately one ticket

the other day, me and my housemate won a Sanrio plushie that seems to sell for at least £22 on a claw machine for 50p (he won it on his first try) and i immediately thought of this video

Nostalgic memories coming back! Our local place like this was called Funtasia and we had a system by the time I was like 6 where we would never buy any candy (also taught little me self control) and had a place in our house – one of those like receipt spike things – where we would save up our points for ages until we could afford the best thing. I got many a blow up hammer.

If technically you go once a day and win everytime at every skill based game wich is possible if you get good you can actually make decent profit going to an alien planet that is trying to get information on humans you just sell them these items like marvel mugs and the most useless kitchen appliances ever for gold but then one day you sell them cheap airphones so they realise you arent advanced, at this point they invade our planet and kill us all now look what youve done.
Ok nevermind this was a bad idea
