Chile De Arbol was my entre

You can’t know how relieved I am that you didn’t start with their later npr stuff.

When I saw him live I asked why he didn’t do any of his Casio songs then expressed my horror when he told me he gave it to his niece.

Only just caught up with this one…and now I'm crying.
Never, ever, be afraid to be you.
And of course 26 year old AD is made up by the experience of who 18 year old AD was. And that will keep on happening as you grow.
    Awesome video
    Hugs to you.

What the British have for Boy Scouts is Boy Scouts. The British version of the Boy Scouts began in 1908, 2 years before the American version.
After this episode of your vlog, I looked up The Mountain Goats on YouTube. I like 'em.

There’s always something so emotional talking about albums that bring back memories of any kind. Whether they be happy, sad, angry or otherwise, you can’t help but feel something.

For as F-d up as current America seems to be, I have noticed that quite a number of content creators like yourself have been moved to be blatantly and painfully honest. It took a lot of courage and effort to complete and post this episode. Thank you ❤️👍🏼

I don't like the Mountain Goats, I went to a concert by them, not knowing who they are, expecting to see some goats, but instead it was just a skinny guy with a guitar, with oversharing diary entry sort of songs. I kept thinking, I don't know you like that, John. As you pointed out Mark Kozelek also writes like this where nothing is hidden by idiom or allegory. Not my favorite writing style (at least from a stranger). But I understand them more from watching your video, and get why you love them.

wow, thank you so much for sharing this abby. this is hands down my favourite review you did spare the exile on main street video. i learn so much about music when watching vinyl mondays (or fridays) and i especially love when you talk about more obscure music, like in this episode. i’ve never heard of the mountain goats before but their music just happened to be so up my alley. it really saddens me that some really good episodes of yours don’t get enough love, so i’m almost writing this to just boost the video’s numbers. don’t stop making passion projects like this, no matter whether they are successful or not. someone out there will treasure them

Fantastic video. Thank you for putting the spotlight on Tallahassee and All Hail West Texas. They're amazing records and very dear to my heart. Like yourself, I fell hard for The Mountain Goats, but it happened later in life for me. The Mountain Goats were literally my divorce music. John Darnielle's words hurt like hell to hear because they were so real and unsparing. John never gave his song protagonists a single excuse for their actions. Still, it was obvious his lyrical dissections came from a place of understanding and compassion. My ex and I didn't quite get to the point of burning a house down with us inside it, but I still needed that hard truth back then. I'll always be thankful for Sweden, Tallahassee, West Texas, We Shall All Be Healed and The Sunset Tree for seeing me through that time.

Also, while I love your regular content, please make more videos like this too.

I was having a really bad day today and this video really helped me. I have struggled with depression the past few years. In these dark times from being constantly sad and alone I have realized how deep my outlook on life is. I find beauty and sadness in every little thing in a way I cannot describe. I feel like you’re the only person I have seen in my life that has a similar feeling and experiences like I do and a similar outlook on life. I find it motivating to know that you exist and how good it gets. And I just wanted to thank you for existing keep being you.
