I Need It Yesterday | Chris & Jack

Chris and Jack | December 21, 2025

Time travel! The theories exist, but could it truly be possible? And if it were, would you use it to email a client report to your boss yesterday? Alternatively, have you heard about idioms? And is everything okay dude?

This sci-fi comedy short film by Chris and Jack was featured at Palm Springs International Shortfest, Fantasia International Film Festival, Aspen Shortsfest, Walla Walla Movie Crush, Sci-Fi London Film Festival, Nevada City Film Festival, and Ridgway Independent Film Fest.

Deleted scenes, outtakes, and director commentary for this and all our other videos are up on our Patreon. Please support us there if you’d like to help fund future shorts and sketches: https://www.patreon.com/chrisandjack

We’re Chris W. Smith and Jack De Sena (aka Chris & Jack). We’ve been friends for years and love making high-quality, high-concept sketch comedy. Chris is an occasional Blue Man in Blue Man Group. As a voice actor, Jack played Sokka in Avatar the Last Airbender and Callum in the Dragon Prince. In 2016 we united to create this channel, confusingly titled “Chris & Jack”, which has served as a shared platform to write, produce, direct, edit, and star in our own stuff. We’re releasing comedic sketches of all shapes and sizes. Sci-Fi, Heists, animation, movie tropes, absurdist bits, and plenty of fun new experiments. But above all else, friendship.

A huge thank you to all our Patrons, including our “Producer Tier” friends:

So, in case people don't know about this, just like you can spoof your email address in an email, you can spoof the timestamp too. You just have to craft the email message manually and send it directly through the mail servers. I don't know what standards they use these days but I am certain it's the same. This is because the internet protocol TCP/IP does not discriminate what kind of messages it is actually delivering so it has no idea about the times about the data.

In fact, the data are chopped out into bits that get bounced around the different networks and duplicated all over like a sound relay station network, it wouldn't be surprising if it takes a few minutes to actually transmit anything.

However this is only true if you use non-platform emails like say you have your own mail server because you have a website with a host that's not affiliated with any of the major platforms and have competent people running their own independent networks of smaller mail servers that still connects you from point A to point B.

If you use something like gmail, none of the above applies because they control everything including how they want you to fool you into thinking you got a message yesterday warning about your house is about to be reposted when it was already sent a year ago and your house is already repossessed and you have lost your right to appeal in courts

This is why it is important to have redundancy like Jack emphasized Always ask for physical mail too as backup.

this pair: writes an entire skit about time travel that actually sounds a bit realistic
also this pair: can't understand that the possessive of "chris" is not "chris' " but "chris's"

Hacked the computer and dated the email to yesterday and hat contained the report I sent today. Damn I should have built a time machine 😔 but I did I easier. Note yes I really did change the time on a email 😂
