Its probably the app they make you install, will read whole bunch of data from your phone, which will then be sold to 3rd party for a lot of money. Nothing is free, or next to free. If it seems so, you are the product.

You forgot to mention big differentiator (at least for me). When Samsung gives up on their SmartThings Hub, everything goes offline. When IKEA gives up on their smart devices, they still work with any other Matter controller. There is no cloud to maintain account to keep the lights on. Just like originally Philips Hue was locked into their hub, but now their bulbs work hub-less with Bluetooth or Thread Border router.

I thinks theres some problems right now, but matter will be fixed, and i think in a year or so ikea will have this but working about 100% of the time

My favorite products I’ve gotten from ikea are a remote controlled outlet plug and a led bulb that pairs with a remote you buy, neither of them connect to the internet or your phone and it’s perfect. They work every time

I am using Ikea products via Home Assistant and never had problems with any of my 112 devices. I think that its the software.

I've found just tying the MAC address to the IP address on the router helps with a lot of these issues. they should have better networking.

Ikea makes money on the furniture. These small prices items are just to get people in the door. Same with their food. It's the reason kids want to go, for the hotdogs.

it's sad i cant use these new devices, because my dsmart home uses zigbee 3.0. I mean, in theory another adapter would work, but still. the more adapters, the less actualy smart it becmes :/
