Oh Maxmimum Ride…. as a teen, maybe 14ish? I remember devouring the latest one, setting it down, and thinking… wait… things that are professionally made and cost money…. can be bad???? 😂 and all of a sudden my obcession with them was over. Googling what was up w them also was how I learned abt ghost writers and the james patterson writing factory

I read… the graphic novel adaptation… and my understanding was that they didn’t slide their wings under their skin, they just were able to hide it under their clothes really well – but maybe that’s wrong. Regarding the arc with the dr lady, I recall that Max and Fang picked a cave in the wilderness to use as a base and then they split up to cover more ground. This meant that Max dealt with saving that girl and being shot in the shoulder alone, making her own calls. In the comic adaptation the dr lady said she was a veterinarian but would help as best as she could, fixed up the bullet wound with a needle and thread in her bathroom, and there was a scene in the bathroom where Max let her wings show for the first time to a stranger. Later they smuggle her into an actual hospital to get the X rays done, which gives Max some angsty ptsd flashbacks, before she takes another day to heal with her heightened healing abilities before she flies back off to meet Fang. She eats chocolate chip cookies for the first time in the home of the dr lady (retconned/steamrolled by Jeb trying to ‘win her over with cookies’ – in the books it was an indication she’d been watched all along, in the movie it’s like “you’re not my dad, I’m not a kid who likes cookies anymore 😡”)This movie flattens all of that and rewrites so much it’s crazy. Fang is upset after all this because she basically went missing for days and he didn’t have a way to find her; but they took the reasons out and kept the anger. Many weird choices with the narrative here

To their credit, if you know what chemicals to mix, bombs are shockingly easy to make. Risky, yes, but easy. Even without knowing the specifics, it probably wouldn't be too challenging for an average person to trial and error to a minor explosive. More likely they'd get hurt in the process tho!

I was obsessed with the books as a preteen. The movie tried to capture the edgy parts of the book but did such a bad job. Can promise the books were way better, even if I am a grown man now lol

I loved the maximum ride books as a kid, the second you said ‘bird people’ my mind immediately went to that. The fact that this video is actually about maximum ride 💀 I read the books back in like 2009 so what a throwback..
Side note, I am also an absolute sucker for bird people (I blame maximum ride for this) and my last name is literally Bird but I feel like that’s unrelated

Right in the beginning of the video it shows a little piece of you when you were a kid, I want to know about that, what were you doing? Did they have internet back then and if so what kind of connection? Was it broadband? And I find it fascinating that they already had streaming and YouTube etc back then, is that correct? Did they have YouTube and streaming or that kind of thing back then? And what year was that?

This was a series of books and they were pretty good. They probably planned to make sequels but it was too badly made.
