If you think the discourse about China's risk to western security and the global order of free and liberal cooperation is somehow entirely a product of American propaganda, listen to the Chinese, because they sure as sugar paint themselves as adversaries to and rightful conquerors of the west and its institutions. If you don't trust the American government, give a listen to the Chinese one, and be sure to apply at least a little critical thinking when doing so.

GPUs are not based around calculations intended for AI. TPUs are.

The new H20, which was 𝒅𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒈𝒏𝒆𝒅 for use in China, sounds great. But can China trust it? China certainly can't trust the motives of the President who now wants to send it there. He still things they are fools. Additionally, they don't need it anymore because of their Kirin Kirin 9020 processor is handling their needs nicely.

LAWYERS: Could someone look into something? The SCOTUS has largely ruled that the president can’t be held liable for [far too much] and so cannot be charged.

However, can’t the people who are NOT the President be charged for carrying out his unlawful orders? 🤔

US-Americans are the very last people China would listen to babble about human rights. National security is translated in the US as 'the ongoing ability to profit from others through bullying, threats, and destruction.' The US should actually be constantly sanctioned if its standards are applied. Meanwhile, China is also surpassing the US technologically. They will soon abandon chips made in the US altogether.

I know you always say there’s always something you can do instead of doom posting but in the case of AI is there really anything we can do about it?

America is entering its new decade of shame. Instead of us being the envy of the world having the best universities, the best medicine, the best technology, ect we’re just going to be seen as a glorified giant Amazon warehouse with some nice toy soldiers.

We will no longer be seen as a vacation, entertainment, or opportunity destination. We will be seen as a first world country that used to be great. A place to avoid unless you’re looking for a tax shelter and you can afford to bribe bankers.

It's funny, China is a threat to the world, but it wasn't the one that imposed tariffs on everyone. Quite the contrary, China is helping the countries affected by Trump's tariffs.

It should be noted that “battery technologies“ catching up with renewables is not entirely accurate or can be misleading. We have for over a century had a technology called pumped Hydro storage whereby we utilize renewable energy to pump water up the hill and then when we want energy, running it back downhill through a turbine. It is simple, extremely low carbon, and very durable. Just because it is 100 year-old technology does not mean it’s inferior.

Frankly, while the "national security" claims over selling the chips to China may not be totally groundless, I do detect the subtle aroma of cow patties.

A much bigger threat is to the profits of the US companies currently dominating consumer AI and cloud platforms – Open AI, Anthropic, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Meta, X. Chinese researchers have already shown what they can do with much more limited resources (with the release of Deepseek R1). What might they do without those constraints?

A sane world would be holding continous summits on how best to employ AI for the betterment of humanity. In that world, all nations would be working together. Cooperation instead of competition.

Our world is the polar opposite of that world, which is why AI will likely be our Great Filter event.
