How It Felt to Play Ozzy Osbourne’s Final Show

Loudwire | March 9, 2026

We’re still feeling the aftershocks of Black Sabbath’s “Back to the Beginning” show, as are artists like Zakk Wylde, Maynard James Keenan and Lzzy Hale. Watch them talk about getting the call to perform, their anticipation for the show and the emotions they felt on the big night.

Lzzy Hale, Rudy Sarzo + David Ellefson clips taken from the Beardo and Weirdo podcast: http://youtube.com/@BeardoAndWeirdoPodcast

LOL 😂!! Randy Blythe said it best! Yep, tickets are expensive but considering THAT thanks to ticket Able to do………. Be there to say goodbye to Ozzy Osborne as this was his LAST concert, no matter how long he might have lived, his body was unable to ever do anything like this again.

He always said that if he had it his way he’d want to be able to say Goodbye to his Fans! He loved us fans.
RIP My Prince Ozzy & say hi to Randy for me. ❤️❤️🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼💔💔😢

Just not many people can say they invented a genre of rock and roll…. But Ozzy was one of them!

Tributes have been outstanding on this one. Just goes to show how much people want to give him and the band all the credit in the world!

I’m still shedding tears five days later. I was on vacation in Panama City, FL and was getting out of the shower when my 24 year old daughter runs into the bathroom n says ur phone is going crazy mom. She says Ozzy passed away. I get dressed and walked outside and every bar and restaurant and store on the beach strip was blaring Ozzy. The whole town was just giving it up for Ozzy.

He is too alive to be considered dead.

But the world after his death will certainly never be the same.

Thank you for everything, dear friend and elder brother.

You have always lit our way – now we are in darkness.

I hope I will be lucky enough to meet you on the other side.

I get a kick out of people saying that he was trying to get out of the chair because that wasn't the case. Anybody that knows Ozzy knows that he sometimes sways back and forth when he's singing even when he's standing. 😊

Ozzy absolutely created Heavy Metal. Sure, the other guys played their roles. But just think of it for a second. Would their sound have hit NEARLY as hard as it did without Ozzy's vocals?

Seriously, just take "Black Sabbath". That song is no where near as METAL if you put anyone else in the mic booth of the studio. Who the fuck is pulling you into this etheral like trance with "WHAT…..IS…..THISSS…THAT…STANDS…BEFORE ME" that Ozzy nails with like this theatrical side that no one had really brought to rock n roll before.

He just took rock n roll and stepped up the game. Not only do you need a great voice but NOW the vocalist must put himself into the role he is singing about. If the subject of the song is starting to feel some anger….now you gotta deliver those lyrics with a VENOM that only raw hatred from your own life can bring. That's what Ozzy just did there.

And it was his unique voice and almost like a trance-like ability to his melodies….that is what birthed METAL music. That and Geezer's heavy lyrics about nuclear armaggedon and whatnot. His vocals & Geezer's lyrics together showed the world what rock n roll could also be about.

On July 5th after work, I cried during Mama, I'm Coming Home when I got to see it. And I just rewatched it the other day and I was crying again. I really believe that performance of that song will make me weep forever. Turns out he wasn't singing it just to Sharon, that he's coming home for good. He was singing to the afterlife.

Really was quite amazing that even at his age, towards the end of the road….he could put on a show!!! There's not many at all who can perform from a throne and still kick major ass.

I met Randy Blythe at the Birmingham Comic Con and talk to him about the show a day before my birthday and it was just surreal, meeting a legend talking about THE legend, and 11 days after my birthday he's just gone, crazy, RIP, not a day will go by I won't miss Ozzy or treasure that conversation with Randy.
