Yeah, solid top 5 smartest animal having similar max lifespan to humans and having one of the most peculiar brain bcs their inteligence defies our knowledge about brain structure bcs despite being smart and having incredible memory they have very reptile-like smooth brain lacking structures we assosiate with one or another function in our brain.

Why not use airsoft guns? Japan is full of them. Hand one to each Tokyo citizen or foreigner and give them a book and a photo of crows and how to identify them. Or airguns with 22lr pellets could do the job too. Like how Jamaica is trying to eradicate Iguana and wild Chicken population

Corvids are among my absolute favorite animals a lot of this is precisely why. They're fascinating creatures and there's just something lovely about an animal whose help can be more easily obtained via rapport than taming and/or force. Just wonderful.

Crows and Ravens are wonderful if the people would have treated them good they could have "trained" asked the birds to do the right thing they would have.

I would love to see them do the analogical test without treats being involved, just to rule out that the birds somehow just know where the food is.

I remember having 2 Crow encounters relatively close to each other, I wasn't attacking or being attacked (they were a significant distance away) I only made eye contact with them when they were making some noise (I think they were trying to communicate with distant crows)
The first one frantically flew away cawing repeatedly the second one simply shuffled along the branch it was on until it was out of sight behind the branches as if it received a polite noise complaint
For years I haven't seen a crow since
Years later it occurred to me we were cat distribution system hotspot at the time (we live in a rural area and cats help keep the skittering noises in the ceiling at bey) so maybe that was why they were apprehensive towards me acknowledging them

In Germany, theres a phenomenon with farmers and crows/ravens offing their lambs while they are being birthed or shortly after. They pick at the eyes, tongue and crawling in to their butts and eating them from the inside. Crows/ Ravens are protected by German laws, so the farmers can’t do anything about it. You should look into it if you’re interested.
