How Billionaires Scammed The NFL’s Most Loyal Fans

More Perfect Union | September 15, 2026

Billionaires are turning NFL stadiums into gated communities, catering to the ultra-rich.

We talked to lifelong Cleveland Browns fans priced out of their new stadium.

To get tickets, fans need to buy Personal Seat Licenses, which could cost $500 to $200,000 per seat.

Blue collar people, for the common man……Could you guys do one on how blue collar people and professionals alike had to take MRNA technology during covid. Or would that conflict with your beliefs? Look deeper, I notice you avoid one of the biggest harmful things done to humanity in recent memory. Football…….come on guys this is so low on the totem pole…..are you going out of your way to avoid the Covid story? Beliefs…..look into it you will be floored if you have the were with all to look and challenge your beliefs. Journalists???? Left ….right wing…….if you still think that was just a bunch of far right conspiracy theorists you are not journalists. Nano Lipid particle, using the body as a manufacturing plant for spike proteins that could pass the blood brain barrier…….MANY harmed with lives that don't resemble their previous lives. Families changed forever, some died. Journalists? Come on. I like some of your stuff but that is a glaring omission. I am subbed, will wait.

I love the NFL and am a big fan. At the same time I will be the first to admit that the NFL is a total scam. Enshittification of the NFL has happened just like many other industries, due to the greed and predatory capitalism. The concessions are sky high, the tickets are overpriced, and the merch is also overpriced. I am whole-heartedly against the funding of any NFL stadium with taxpayer money. If they can afford to pay Tom Brady $50 million a year or whatever, then they can afford to pay for the stadium, along with private capital. Study after study shows that those city-funded stadiums are a net loss to the city. Take the Rams, for example, who left St. Louis for Los Angeles, and completely screwed the fans. Left the city of St. Louis on the hook for millions. Not only that, but the rich waste so much of what they make from the NFL, living lavishly and the like. And, I love my country, but very tired of all the military propaganda at games and the like. A few years back, during the Colin Kaepernick controversy, they were really overdoing it, and it blew up in their faces. They protected the business, and not the players. Perhaps Kaepernick went overboard by protesting at the game, but players should be able to speak their minds without rabid fans trying to silence them. Whether you disagree or not, they are only one person and entitled to their opinion, right or wrong. Today on the radio, I heard a segment on NPR about how they ask players their sexual orientation, how they feel about Colin Kaepernick, and alll sorts of nonsense. Those questions are highly illegal, and if a normal job asked those questions, they would get sued, rightfully so. Yet, the NFL has a special pass and that needs to end. And, finally F*ck the Patriots. I used to like them, but they are just as bad as the Yankees these days. Totally evil empire type of thing. Robert Kraft and Tom Brady are huge supporters of Trump. Tom Brady took PPP loans during COVID that were forgiven. What a scam!! Why does a billionaire need a PPP loan? Your tax dollars are being stolen right out from under you—legally. I love watching football, but Americans need to wake up and take off the rose-colored glasses.

There should be a law passed that no professional sports team can play a game in a publicly funded stadium. Even the stadiums paid off, the teams should reimburse the taxpayers.

This is even happening in minor league baseball. My local AAA baseball team charges a minimum of $50 per ticket. The local single A team charges $25. Concessions are outrageous too.

The problem with Oakland and Cleveland is that they are poor cities. The government there has no money to fund. They are crime ridden and rundown. The teams tried working with the cities for years.

People are like ‘wow I have so much respect for browns fans.’ As a former Browns fan, i could have less respect for a group of people. It’s pathetic behavior and acceptance of disaster. Quit going. Move the team.

The golden era of sports has faded and left since probably in the 2010’s but I’d really say before the iPhone or 2008.

Once the sports economy went from TV to mobile/streaming it converted the in-game experience in the NFL to the haves and have nots.

It’s absurd to think what it cost a family of four to go to an NFL game and to think owners are getting money from these fans whether they attend or not is beyond comprehension.

I wish there was a way to reset things to the 90’s, such an amazing time.

Instead, now there is political nastiness, social media toxic behavior, selfish attitudes, financial corruption abound, and companies trading billions for datacenters while slashing 20 percent of the workforce to pay for it that will automate the 20 percent more in five years.

In a world where we need optimistic leaders we have clowns. The world can do better and I think the younger generation is going to fix it. Boomers and my Generation X has mortgaged to much including these stadiums, universities, and healthcare system.

A train wreck is forming folks.. it’s going to be one of the more difficult times when this bubble bursts because we won’t be about to afford the safety net approaches of the past.

Complaining about the cost of a ticket while still going to games and buying merchandise is stupidity at another level. Just don’t watch it. You don’t own the team or have decision making in it, go outside and exercise and spend time with family or friends instead of giving all your hard earned money away and then complaining about it.

I dont know how many people have said "this will be my last year of season tickets"…. These owners know these people will spend every dollar to get into the game and this is why they do it. They will make the rich feel rich at the game and the blue collar will fell lucky to be apart of it. The cost to go to any football game is ridiculous and I dont know how people afford it today let alone a year from now but trust me people will find a way to be apart of the game if they have gone this long

If these people want to run their business in the most profitable way they can thats their business. Tax payers shouldn't have to pay for their stadium and they should pay the police for the traffic control.

These millionaires and billionaries are taking away everything. Sports, music etc are no longer fun anymore. Games are expensive, to watch games on tv is expensive. I no longer watch sports, go to any sports venues for music or sports. I know many others who don't attend or watch sports anymore. I hope these teams and owners flop.

Its actually quite simple: stop paying to go to games. Dont get me wrong, I LOVE going to games (Ohio State games). But at the same time the only way to get the point across and tell owners to F off is to not pay. Watch on TV. Create a new tailgate spot
