How a Redditor Leaked Tool’s New Album – Tales From the Internet
Tool’s long awaited new album, Fear Inoculum, is slated for release on August 30, 2019. However, the band’s fans on reddit could not wait any longer. Fans became more and more restless as retail employees teased r/toolband with pictures of the album arriving at stores and warehouses. It was late on Saturday, the 24th, that one Target employee would rise to the occasion and lead reddit on a journey across the Las Vegas strip to get the album out to the public five days early.

This was a fun day, I was there watching this go down start to finish. I bought the album in 3 different forms so I don't feel guilty. It was worth it.

I think it probably was the original Mirage ripper who eventually posted the album online. If I were going to leak something like this, I’d definitely scrub and delete that reddit account before I uploaded the files anywhere. Having to use a 3rd party client to go back and see deleted reddit comments is at least one low hurdle you can throw down to obfuscate your trail.

I still have this .flac rip on my phone that went around that day. I bought the second edition book version so I paid, but this is the one I still listen to because of this story, lol. Tool fans really are the greatest. There is a beanie with the Tool Army logo on their site, but you have to pay for Tool army membership to be able to even buy it. I went on the reddit and asked if someone who was a member could buy it for me and ship it then I would re-imburse them. Some dude asked for my address and said he'd order it and not to even worry about it. I still have the beanie. Tool fans are family dude.
