Bills Mafia is the best! The Spanos family who owns the Chargers are just as scummy as the Pegs family. Voters turned down the money grab so Spanos is now paying rent to the Rams at SoFi. Neither team has a Super Bowl win. Imagine that.

So let me see if I get this…..$1.1 billion to build the stadium, $600 million from the state, $250 million from county….Now where does State and County money come from…..Tax Payers (indirectly through taxes)…..Now they are increasing ticket prices to the fans……WHO…..Are taxpayers….. literally either directly or indirectly taxpayers are paying for the stadium.

If you learn nothing else about Ancient Rome, watch the movie “Gladiator.” This is how the culture of masses gathering in colloseums for 'sporting events' — today, known as “stadiums” or “arenas” — first got started.
Why did it stop? The Roman treasury could no longer support these events — which ONLY existed because the government funded it completely.
The closest citizens had to “team ownership” were the businessmen who trained, housed and fed these gladiators. Even when adjusted for inflation, they weren't the billionaires of their time.
Probably the only “owner” who ever had enough money to finance the construction of a colloseum was Marcus Licinius Crassus. Crassus built a fortune setting wooden (largely ghetto) buildings on fire, while running his own private fire department (the Roman government had no comparable agency as they built important buildings out of fire-resistant marble, granite and concrete)
Rome's government spent so much money on war and entertainment, it was too late to fix the problem. The Western Roman Empire (which includes the city of Rome), in particular, was extinct by 476 A.D.
A thousand years of Roman dominance disappeared in favor of the Visigoths, and later, the Huns, who mostly burned everything in their paths. Many of them were formerly Roman prisoners of war, including slave-turned-Gladiators who could win their freedom by winning enough matches. ⚔️
