Every day in the USA, 1600 people go missing. Many of these cases follow typical patterns and end up being resolved in one way or another, but that’s not what this video’s about. Today, we’re exploring a set of missing persons cases that are simply baffling, where a person appears to just stop existing without explanation. As if they glitched out of reality.

Idk if this is something you've covered, but it feels similar to these cases: the case of Lela and Raymond Howard. The song "The Way" by Fastball from 1998 is based on their story

Farrell is not familiar with duct tape? 🙂 It’s really easy to defeat that cut-off switch. If your air filter is dirty or some other factor makes the mower hard to pull start, it’s very desirable not to have to grip the switch to start it—and not to have it stall when you release your grip. Lots of mowers have some duct tape solving that problem.

if he was 30, there's a chance it was schizophrenia or some other disorder suddenly kicking in, late teens to early 30s is when it usually hits

Cause this is about unsolved cases- if anyone heard about the boy in the box case, it is most likely sloved. Through DNA testing they found his identity, Joseph Augustus Zarelli, and the man who was theorized to sell his child, was the boy's father. Going from there, the most likely case is that ths girl who was telling on her mom was telling the truth. The only evidence agaisnt it is that neighbors said they never saw a second child, and if that child was treated as bad as the girl and autopsy say, its not hard to imagine the mother forced the boy to hide himself.

3:36 being the time it, this isn't a vaild judgment. We just now settled on "keeping a case in the public eye is the best way to get it sloved." And that's with the advice of "don't show emotion to kidnappers or stalkers, and say as little as possible, they get information from it." So back then? Advice was whatever the cop/lawyer/best friend/family/papers felt that day. I could totally understand someone telling her "don't say anything, you'll taunt the killer." I never understood why people put so much thought into the family's media presence of older cases, advice at the time was wild. And thats just stating the people being honest and not a situation of people brushing her off using the same kind of idea.

"how likey is it for a 30 year old man to be using a 14 year old lawn mower…" Has got to be one of the most braindead takes in the fucking world. My daily driver (not my fun project car my get me to work car) is a 30 year old shitbox…my project car is a 20 year old shitbox…for the record I'm 38

i think the first story was conveyed in a way that makes it seem like fiction, sayin stuff like “he just clipped out of reality” takes most people out of the mindset of “this was a real person with a wife who disappeared” and puts them in the “its just a story this would never really happen” mindset. another nitpick i have is that lawnmower bit which every other comment is talking abt bc yeah we in the USA tend to keep old shit if its still workin as long as we can regardless of legality, and the question about the motive in the second story. some people really do just hurt women because they can get away with it, specifically because cops will ask if She had any fault in what happened to her, trying to find any way to justify why the guy would do something to her, in many cases ive seen and experienced (though not as tragic, thankfully)
rlly i think the way to continue is to just get more perspectives, thats rlly my only “gripe” if thats what it is, otherwise good video 8/10

I used to live in Verona. Very small and unassuming town. Honestly might be the first time I've heard it mentioned in a long time, and in this context is crazy.

The lawnmower detail in the first case immediately stood out to me. While it’s possible it was an old lawnmower, that feels unlikely (even for the time period).

Maybe the wife knows more than she implies? After all, it’s extremely unusual for an adult male to be abducted.

I'm 41 but I can remember using lawnmowers with these dead mans switches bypassed with a bungee cord so they'd stay running while not having to hold the trigger bar down, which made handling them much less annoying in the long process of mowing a large yard.

10:30 I've heard a lot of stories where people just have a break from reality suddenly and just wander out of their house wearing whatever they had on and just disappear into the woods or wherever. Seems like this woman that went missing had one of those "breaks"

    Story 1.

A 14 year old lawnmower seriously is not unusual. They run FOREVER if you keep up on maintenance.

And 2nd, literally everyone I know has disabled their lawnmower's deadman switch. Which is easy and legal to do, it just can't be commercially sold that way.

Years ago two guys from abroad went missing, they took a cab somewhere after the clubs closed down and just disappeared. Eventually they found out that the guys didn't want to pay for the cab and they took off running.. Then they found them at the bottom of this quarry.. they jumped a fence in the dark and they didn't know the area

I like how you talk about these cases. You're kind and thoughtful. These are people. They had family and friends. They had favorite movies or books. You don't sensationalize the stories. You simply tell them.
