Farrell McGuire | June 21, 2026

If you’re ever injured in an accident, see if you have a case with Morgan & Morgan. You can start your claim in just a click without having to leave your couch: https://www.forthepeople.com/Farrell

Game shows have been on TV as long as the medium’s been around. As you could imagine, a history this long almost certainly has some darker twists and turns. Today we explore them.

Gee, rouse 30,000 people to turn up at a 19,000-capacity stadium while limiting the number of those who'd get a chance to compete for the prize inside to 300 — who could possibly foresee what a human disaster that would turn out to be???!!!!

If you are ever so stupid as to take risks for some type of entertainment and you end up injured, I think you will find quite a few people will fall into low compassion towards you category. Taking such risks is just beyond stupid.

I can't remember where I first heard the story about Samuel, but I definetley think shows like that are just an accident waiting to happen. They remind me of squid game kind of, like yeah a person would do a lot for a chance at life-changing money. it all seems like exploitation!

I always appreciate how you talk about the real people who experienced these tragedies. So many other youtubers make videos triple the length and never actually speak about the victims, while you’re always able to do so respectfully and concisely. Keep up the great work!!

I know Farrell tries really hard to find things we haven't seen yet, but unfortunately I'm chronically on here and Reddit and have already heard of all these. I still enjoy your content and keep up the great work! You are doing great!!

As an American, I mean this in the absolute 100% most respectful way, but I honestly just see Canada as almost another state. Now, don't @ me. I don't mean as if we "own you," I mean it in more of a familiar, "Oh, you're from New York and you're from Canada," kind of way. I feel closer to y'all than Hawaii and Puerto Rico (maybe because we are).

21:40 People knew they were signing up to reveal secrets. But what people didn’t know is that someone close to them would end up killing them for it. So I agree it’s not really the shows fault… that guy was just mentally screwed in the head.

Incidentally, Bliefnick's answer was #2 on the board. Few people seem to show or mention that part, I guess because it makes the Family Feud footage seem more "chilling" in our attention economy. But no, a ton of people in the survey gave that same answer, and presumably without all killing their wives afterwards…

The fact that Brian killed Ruth, to steal her earnings implies that they were already having relationship troubles, so the gameshow itself isn't entirely complicit as it's not their business how the contestants conduct themselves in their day to day lives, though the terrible sentence of a measly 30 years is pretty messed up and too short of a sentence.

One of my mother's favourite passtimes is watching Family Feud from 6 to 7 every weekday. She gets a lot of entertainment accurately guessing the answers.

watched Wetten Dass live. Even the episode with the incident. Long ago … and I was a kid but I still remember it. Wetten Dass was very huge. Even Micheal Jackson appeared on it once… Young Justin Bieber too. If I remember correctly Justin was supposed to appear after the accident but they cancelled the whole show for the rest of the evening. The response from the TV program was overall good. They put the cameras away so nobody saw the moment of impact on their TV.
