I've been a fan since Crawling in the dark. When I got the 2nd album and listened through it all, The Reason was my least favorite song. Of course that was the song that blew up 😂 I just prefer the harder stuff. I got to see them perform at Epcot this past weekend and they still perform with the same energy as they did 20 years ago. They are a great band to see live

Dan wrote a lot of great riffs. Same Direction is great album opener and What Happened To Us has also great riffs. From other albums Magnolia and obviously Crawling in the Dark are great.

hoobastank is a shitty name, just like chumbawamba or whatever they're called. pretty sure some bands could have performed better (and better for longer) had they given themselves more serious band names. still i'm gonna give their stuff a listen now

I met him and the rest of the band in Germany at a free concert they performed! They were such cool guys and just seemed really down to earth. It was just cool to see these guys still doing what they love.

I love hearing that the dude the that wrote and plays the song, still messes up, and is like "shit", and plays on. Makes me feel better learning and playing along.

this dude is SERIOUSLY underrated… i always love offering the best guitar players i know "the reason challenge" because the alt picking up to tempo without ANY distortion is a bitch for almost all of them to do cleanly lmao

seriously. check out the first few hoobastank records, especially the ones with their OG bassist Markku.

open tunings, really intricate riffs, amazing guitar effects, heavy and clean parts galore, and everything is a masterclass in melodic songwriting and riff writing.

dan estrin really needs to be more celebrated.

So cool and interesting to bring my old guitar heroes on interviews! i always admire his riffs and the reason album was on heavy rotation in the early 2000s. After the reason album they lost me cause they were going to soft unfortunatly. But his guitarplaying reminds of the good old days🔥😊
