The Car People | American Nomads – Homeless or Free? | ENDEVR Documentary

Roma Camps – Inside a Parallel Society: https://youtu.be/S4FEzt-EUKc

Laurie, Kristy and Linda each live alone on the roads of America, sleeping in their vehicles. They are just three among thousands of modern American nomads who can no longer afford to pay for conventional housing. ‘Nomad Solitude’ follows each woman, revealing the daily reality of their lives outside the mainstream.

The nomad lifestyle is often represented as aspirational, and was popularised by the Oscar-winning film “Nomadland.” Many nomads have their own Youtube channel, as there is such an appetite to know more about this lifestyle, perhaps based on some romantic idea of the nomad life. The film is a visual feast of the breathtaking wide open spaces of the USA. We see the freedom of their lives, but also the intense solitude, with all its beauty and its desolation. There is a deep emotional core to the film as the women are each determined to stay positive about their path.

With no money to spare, these three sixty-year old women are fleeing, in their own way, a part of their history that has left a deep mark on them. As they drive away from a conventional lifestyle, they try to reclaim some kind of peace. But as the miles pass and the seasons turn, despite their courage and resilience, their quest for a better future is challenged by unexpected events that hit a country in crisis. Will they nevertheless manage, at the end of the road, to find the serenity they are looking for, in order to become someone again?

I think ol' Gramma was being a little too REAL for Gabriel, lol….That was a much too serious convo, I think, than Gabriel wanted it to be, initially. Lol……I think that I could easily adapt to this way of life, but it'd be easier to do if I had my daughter with me. Or my grandson. That'd be a blast. Does anyone know – I have a Honda Element SUV….Years ago, I had a Jeep Cherokee, & the heater didn't work in it, so during the winter, I found a portable heater that could be plugged into the lighter, which is what I used for heat. I forgot to unplug it one time, & it drained my battery, so now, in any car I've had since then, I'm afraid to plug anything into the lighter, lol. Well, my question is, is there any sorta portable air conditioner that I can plug into my car? I've looked around, but all I can find is the fans that blow out a water mist….lol. I want cold air, not wet air, lol. Anyhoo, I'd absolutely love to be able to do this kinda thing!! It looks amazing!!

There is no doubt that these good people are living under a lot of stress, BUT they are enjoying the shared community of similarly minded individuals that are using their Freedom as best they know how from day to day.
However, to a person if you asked any of them if they'd rather be paying $3,000 to $5,000 per month for home they'd NEVER OWN outright, they'd choose the life of Freedom they now enjoy.
Freedom is the Flex. (You can call it homeless living. But it is Freedom from the tentacles of the System of extraction)
Home Slaves are just that. You are owned by your home and possessions. You don't own them. Miss a few Property Tax, Lease, Registration, Licensing, Insurance, Utilities, or HOA payments and see how Free you think you are.
When and where do you get encouragement from strangers for just being who you are?
Interesting your own employer doesn't care about who you are really. Their affections are transactional. You are merely fulfilling a need as long as they remain profitable from your labor. That's Capitalism.

Im currently living in my little small nissan sentra, with my husband! We have been homeless for about two years. It has become more tolerable! The lack of shelters and resources all over the the United States has us in survival mode every day! Please pray for us! We need stability and good support. We both have no family members we can fall back on. Thank you!

Ok I never do this but the lady with the boy or girl… She's upsetting me. She degrades her kid. Shuts him down. It's awful. Watch yourself on this video and I hope you will see that your child and yours relationship would be better if you were open minded to his/her ideas. Without just making it feel like anything he says is just used by her as an opening to her being right and him being wrong. Please tell your child that you appreciate him and open your mind up to what he's trying to say

To think Trump & his cabal are pushing hard to make homeless living illegal. HE and his crazy illogical ideas to change Government to benefit onky tge rich ruined our economy to this breaking point. Plus it's going to take until 2032 to catch up IF WE GOT OUT OF THE ILLEGAL IRAN WAR TODAY! We will be at war under his reign the rest of his Presidency unless we concede & admit we LOST. Iran holds the real key to the Straight of Hormuz! Iran's making bank NOW so why would he want to open it? We have to fight so hard since our Corrupt President doesn't want any poor people living, he has a black heart full of coal.

$1.99 gas? It's $5.75 right now in Southern Oregon. Right when I'm getting ready to get myself a rig to go out on the road. I want to stay in the Pacific Northwest, actually I want to go north a little for the summer cuz it's too hot here in the summer, but I don't know that I can afford the gas.

It's ok for people that chose to live in their cars and can afford to drive around in beautiful places but that is not the reality for the majority who are forced to live in their cars because they cannot afford anything else. The USA ignores it's sick and poor, provides nothing for those who earn less than minimum wage, cares little or nothing for those who hit hard times. Now in 2026 you have a president that truly reflects the nations values supported by a government that is only interested in the higher 2% those outside of the USA see you not just for who you really are but for what you have always been, it's so very sad because each and every so called American started of as an immigrant to a land that was not there's
