After a decade of movies, the Harry Potter film series came to an end in 2011 with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2. The whole series was a massive worldwide phenomenon and the final movie alone grossed over 1.3 billion at the box office!
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 definitely raises some questions though. Like why is Harry getting strategic visions of Voldemort and not the other way around? Why doesn’t Voldemort send his super important snake away from the massive battle taking place? Why didn’t any of the really helpful magical things introduced in previous movies come into play? Why did Harry name his kid Albus Severus?
To answer all these questions, check out the pitch meeting that led to the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2!

I saw all of these movies with my young son and, honestly, only remember pretty much anything at all about the first one.

I was so mad when I noticed the young Lily actress didn’t have the same eye color as Daniel Radcliffe. It’s the literal definition of “you had ONE JOB!!!!”

McGonnagal sending all the Slytherins to the dungeon is up there with “HARRY DID YOU PUT YOUR NAME IN THE GOBLET OF FIRE?!?!” as one of the worst out of character moments in the entire series imo

Satirizing them splitting the seventh book into two books just doesn’t hit for me since it was the most sensible thing to do if they were going to do the story any justice for the ending.

Harry: Uses unforgivable curse on a minority.
Also Harry: Becomes a cop.
What did JK mean by this?

I always feel bad for Snape, Imagine the women you love ends up being with your biggest bully. I would've never allowed that to happen

mind you…. MOST of these plot inconsistencies are in the BOOKS themselves.
goes to show how much of a hack rowling really is. and that she got really lucky on her first 2-3 books.
other series fantasy novels aren’t perfect either, BUT their worldbuilding is a lot more coherent than this mess.

I like that you bring up the morally reprehensible things good guys do and we're all okay with. Specifically when good guys take away people's agency and willpower like hairy did with that goblin, or how the Jedi do constantly.

Could you imagine if they did kept on halving the books. It'd get to the point where each page gets a whole 2-3 hour movie lol

One thing people always get wrong about "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2" is the whole deal with the Elder Wand's ownership. It's actually way more complicated than it seems! 😅
So, let's break it down:
Dumbledore's Got It:
Dumbledore got the Elder Wand by defeating Grindelwald. Easy enough.
Draco Malfoy:
Here’s where it gets tricky. Draco disarms Dumbledore at the Astronomy Tower (remember that scene?). So technically, Draco becomes the master of the Elder Wand, even though he never actually holds it.
Harry Steps In:
Later on, Harry disarms Draco at Malfoy Manor. That means Harry, not Voldemort, is now the true master of the Elder Wand.
Voldemort totally screws up here. He thinks killing Snape (since Snape killed Dumbledore) makes him the master of the Elder Wand. But nope, it’s Harry who’s got its loyalty because he disarmed Draco.
So, in the final battle, the Elder Wand won’t kill its true master (Harry). Voldemort's curse backfires on him when Harry casts Expelliarmus. That’s why Voldemort bites the dust. 🪦
The movie kinda glosses over these details, so no wonder it’s confusing. Also, after everything, Harry uses the Elder Wand to fix his own wand and then puts it back in Dumbledore’s tomb, planning to break its power for good.
TL;DR: The Elder Wand’s loyalty is like a game of magical hot potato, and Voldemort totally misunderstood how it works. Harry wins because the wand recognizes him as its master! 💥⚡

1:46 in the book it’s explained that the visions between Harry and Voldemort are 2-way (which is the reason why Dumbledore tries to get Harry lessons on how to block them), but the movie…
