nevermind benchmarks, in real word coding usage gemini pro has been a level above chatgpt and claude since its release months ago – both claude and 4o have failure modes you just dont see in gemini (like hallicinations, going round in circles and giving you code that wont compile), and gemini is a very defensive coder, adds a lot of comments, logging and gives various optional solutions, its just on another level to the others.

Here is the thing, I use AI for coding and the no.1 criteria for the most useful model for coding is the raw intelligence and reasoning. I don't do vibe coding, I need the AI to help with the difficult tasks that takes most of the time, like debugging complicated problems, coming up with the best solution to code design problem or provide it's superior domain specific knowledge to speed up development of the code that has to do with things that I am not very familiar with or the resources and tools are limited. These things take vast majority of the time and if the AI can help to speed up the process that is giving me the best value. Writing easy code and solving easy problems doesn't take much time or effort and I can do those just fine myself, when things get really time consuming that's where I am looking for help of AI. The smarter the AI is the easier is to solve those difficult problems, everything else is secondary.

I don't care about coding. Fluidity of conversation without sounding robotic. Human like responses backed by intelligence. So User-Friendly you'd swear it was sentient.

Since 1.5 I've used Gemini for writing and 2.5 pro since day one has been head and shoulders ahead in my mind until very recently when it's been challenged slightly by o3 at times. But with these updates, I reckon Google will pull ahead once more!

Leader board at 4:30 doesn't list Claude 3.7. Major flaw in video; spent the first few minutes accurately describing how Claude 3.7 is competitive and then the leader board doesn't show Claude. Something doesn't seem right.

COMPUTE IS ALL YOU NEED. OpenAi and Anthropic lost their starting advantage meanwhile Xai and Google with more compute are surpassing them. OpenAi by being non profit = no money for computing, bye bye.

This ain't your Google that screwed up in the past, I'm sure a boot was put on the butts of those and they've been focused to get their act together big time. I would expect them to be reliably in the Top 3 with the standard leapfrogging that it happening from the top 3-4 frontier model leaders.

I have used both Sonnet 3.7 and Gemini 2.5 Preview with Cursor in multiple projects. Gemini is far superior then Sonnet.

I have been locked into the Apple Environment for 12 years. I have turned my back to Gemini until a few weeks ago when it did something incredibly unlikely for any model to do – the toolkit of this is SO SO good and fluid……. I was honestly scared.

In my opinion I don’t think people used Chat GPT because it was the frontier of intelligence. They use Chat GPT because it’s the best all around product. The average (non dev) consumer is will not switch to Google because it’s better at coding. They’ll need to improve the all around product from image generation to voice and wrap it all up in a nice bow.. just my opinion

I use Gemini 2.5 Pro for coding web apps in Cursor but then switch to Claude 3.7 to do the css styling because it is much more creative in the visual aspects of web app design.

I don't think people realize how good Gemini 2.0 Pro was for writing with text, for me it beat everything by a mile at the time months ago. Then 2.5 Pro got even better, and this new version of 2.5 is still even better based on my limited testing on it. Most don't realize how far behind OpenAI and Grok actually are. It makes sense that Google would be #1, has the top search engine, image search engine, and top video platforms in the world, all of which is data to draw from to train their models.

I told it to answer me with 1 letter then next answer using 2 letters etc and we got to 10 before it started failing, so still lacks basic reasoning imo
