Get Your Hands Off My Face, Mother……

Justin Hawkins Rides Again | May 20, 2026

Over the past couple of days, I’ve been sent links to social media posts featuring an AI deepfake version of me, but with my former teeth and no 8-pack. It’s not a post or a subject I want to take part in, but there are few laws against it. Does that need to change? Jack Antonoff recently shared his thoughts on the use of AI in art and music and I can see where he’s coming from….

I hope your ok Justin, I cant imagine what it would be like to see myself cloned to say whatever someone wishes and for millions of people to see it, I think its quite disturbing and its not me it happened to!

On the money there. I am an (not famous) illustrator graphic designer. Luckily at 62 I feel it's time to get the oil paints out and say fuck off – I am a happy Luddite.😁

Well said mate, I hope you can get it all taken down Justin, it's not right! On a lighter note….Ai helped me with a letter asking for a salary increase! It put it in such a gracious way and used words and sentence building that was far above my skills in this area, leading me to believe they would surely, would have to, agree……..NO! They did not! 😂😂😂 Keep riding dude 😊

Love you and the channel and agree that you should keep politics out of it.
Wish you had at your gig at Wembley arena last year as it really spoiled the atmosphere you had built.
Your crowd is very diverse of views and were there to hear your songs not 5 minutes of your political thoughts.

AI music is a difficult topic. Fact of the matter is it is more ingrained in the music industry than we know.

    I get it .. I see it
As a musician of over 30+ years I have seen a lot of "trends" that people have said would result in the end of music.

The sampling of the 80s and 90s to create music was quite similar. Taking other people's music or hooks with no real credit to the real musicians is messed up. But let's also be honest here … Isn't that what Led Zeppelin is KNOWN for?…

In the end things like Spotify killed the music industry. Things like a 12 year old having a full sampling studio for under $1,000 killed the music industry. I remember them saying NOT RECORDING with analog was the death of the music industry.

I'm not sure I have the answer but I know this .. I have heard some AI that is terrifyingly good.

I fear it's going to discourage a child from picking up a guitar and learning but I also realize that IKEA makes furniture but that doesn't stop people from buying furniture from real craftsmen.

99.9% of artists music is released with zero interactions and zero interest. My albums back in the late 90s and early 2000's were quite popular .. now… It's a tree falling in the woods…

I guess I will always fall on the side of.. whatever makes you create, whatever gets that emotion out of your soul. Puts your thoughts into others ears or minds.

    Who am I to judge?

It's not harmless. It does matter. Gloria Caulfield, vp of a tech development co; Scott Borchetta, CEO Big Machine Records; former Google exec Eric Schmidt, among others, were booed during commencement speeches where they praised the supposed unstoppable presence of AI to new graduates. Students weren't buying it when Scott Borchetta stated, "Deal with it."

AI music generation is for the people who can't, not for the people who can. And telling people to just learn to play or how to sing when you yourself have spent a significant amount of time doing so is just shit. For the record I can sing. I went to school for music and voice performance and I believe this.

I will agree with you that using AI to replicate existing artists is wrong. It should be used in creating new content not being a doppelganger, and yes there is a difference. You aren't stopping it by bitching by the way. I wish everyone who complained would admit whether they have confirmed if they have contacted their political representatives about it or not. Because if you haven't and you are just complaining about it, you're just being a troll about the genie that's left the bottle already.

Speaking of circus, I just watched the extra material from the Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus and there's this interview with Pete Townshend where he suddenly compares the Darkness to Yoko Ono and not in the most flattering way. Still, I bet this context is a million times cooler than being kidnapped by AI.

If the boot was on the other foot, so to speak, there would be an outbreak of threats to sue because this is just not on. You're allowed your opinions and if you wanted to be part of any political campaign, that should be your choice. But to be shoehorned in like that is about as welcome as a turd in a trainer.

I like the real JH more . ..❤If only you could sue them. I am an arts critic and have been plagiarised, but this is next level. Id hate this being done to me. We do it because it's part of us. Keep on truckin'.

The one thing AI is managing to do is to stop me buying things (to be fair, I don't really buy much anyway lol except for music, gig tickets, and raffall tickets lol etc ) BUT most certainly now, I canny be arsed to check if that product is real, if the celebrity really endorsed it…. AI is truly boring now. And AI needs to go. It shouldn't be in schools, it shouldn't be in businesses, hospitals, parliament (Albania!!!! Last Sept they appointed their first AI Minister!)…. The only thing AI will guarantee is that humans become stupid, lazy and talentless.

Music is a method of communication, it transfers an idea or emotion from one person to another. Sometimes it's complicated, sometimes it's not, but it's part of the evolution of how we communicate with one another. A robot has nothing to communicate, so even if AI becomes exceptionally good at imitating that, it's always going to be empty and one sided. It'll always be a facsimile, because communication requires two thinking beings, one to express an idea, and another to interpret it.

Hey Justin, I saw you in Auckland coupla months ago.
    You guys were fuckn awesome!
AI can’t do that. And that’s what makes the difference.
AI will never make guys in tight jeans dance.
Your girls to guys crowd ratio was easily 50/50 and I saw a pair of tits.
Next time you come please play “Girlfriend” I love it I love it so much.
I could have yelled out for it but that would make me an asshole, which I am, but that should never be your problem.
At any rate you guys kick ass.
