FULL STATEMENT: Senator Elissa Slotkin, Democrats move to block Trump’s ‘Slush Fund’
Senators Elissa Slotkin (D-MI), Adam Schiff (D-CA), and Mark Kelly (D-AZ) have introduced the “Drain the Slush Fund Act,” legislation aimed at preventing the Department of Justice from using settlement funds to create what critics call a political “slush fund.”
The bill targets the DOJ’s Anti-Weaponization Fund, which was established to compensate individuals who claim they were unfairly targeted by previous federal investigations. Supporters argue the fund provides justice for victims of government overreach, while opponents say it gives the executive branch too much control over taxpayer dollars without proper congressional oversight.
