IMHO if you have not seen Evil Dead, SKIP IT and watch Evil Dead 2 instead. Its basically a remake with more money. You wont miss anything except a cheap student film. Evil Dead 2 is THE evil dead movie.

Speaking of dolls, The Zuni Doll in Trilogy of Terror 1975 is where Sam Raimi got his tracking shot inspiration. And Karen Black did kick the doll in the face to no effect 😱

Underworld, if you include sinners, coming from Atlanta, it was like seeing Greenwich Connecticut for the first time and thinking they were the same people from like 400 years ago. Specifically Kate Beckensal

Dude, regarding Paranormal Activity, the only one that's not scary is the fifth. Two is scarier than one, three is scarier than two and one. Four is mid. The fifth is fun and interesting, but it's not scary. And surprisingly, they get their stride back with the sixth (which also makes a great Christmas movie).

Some honourable mentions: Men (Alex Garland's little-known supernatural psychological horror). Great call on Prince of Darkness! I'd also include The Fog. Rigor Mortis (a Chinese supernatural horror). Insidious 3. Longlegs.

One of the best directors of supernatural horror, I think, is Scott Derrickson: The Black Phone and The Black Phone 2, Sinister. Truly solid, eerie movies. Great atmosphere in each of them. Much like John Carpenter, he uses music and sound to great effect, as well as shadow and light. I think he's an underrated director, and I hope he gets more exposure in the coming years.

10 mins in and I gotta pause. What does Gruss think "supernatural" means? Anything fictional?

Is he just here to ragebait or what? Between stuff like this where he doesn't seem to even grasp the theme, and the fact that he hasn't seen anything prior to 1994… When the whole point is to discuss movies and shows. It's dragging the show down, man.

if we're talking under-the-radar movies I gotta bring up the Japanese movie House/Hausu (1977), the most creative/demented take on a haunted house movie I've seen. I've never met anyone irl who's heard of it but it's gained a cult status over time iirc

i watched the exorcist way too young by accident and that’s legitimately the only thing that scares me even to this day. so much so, that even the scary movie parody of the character spooked me haha.

Even though I'm from Brazil, I really like Halloween! 🎃

To me, none of my favorite supernatural "horror" movies are scary, but here they are:
    1. Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn
    2. Ghostbusters
    3. Beetlejuice
    4. Army of Darkness

The government don't care about us any more, but As a single parent Life looks better now, $21k biweekly, retired at 48, nice clothes good food, a beautiful home, a good son full of love went from Grass to Grace. I used to pray for times like this.

I watched the directors release of the exorcist and it was the only scary movie I watched in the theatre till the Blair Witch (which I was convinced was real), and yes, the pee-scene was an absolute touchstone of that movie.

the fact that there is no asian horror save for kwaidan (not kwaiden) here makes this discussion futile. for starters, a tale of two sisters and pick any kiyoshi kurosawa film. look and you can find in this platform: "scene from kiyoshi kurosawa's seance" and pulse ghost girl walking scene. enjoy. 😃😸
