   If you don't understand my words
   how can you understand what I am saying?
   If you don't understand what your Father's words were
   how can you understand what he said
   or your Grandmother's words
   or the Old Ones,
   how can you understand what they are trying to teach you?
   Yes, you need to learn the common language
   the one all the new people speak
   but there is no reason to limit yourself
   to the Now and the new.
   If you learn the ways of the Old Ones
   how will that help you tomorrow?
   All things change, all things go around, all things are many things.
   Tomorrow is many things
   and you need a strong root to survive tomorrow.
   Nourish your roots , the words you family speak at home
   so tomorrow and the new world doesn't eat you.
   The more you can understand, the more you can do
   the more you can see what your people have seen
   to live in a real world as well as the artificial world
   that is the new world.
   Hear the words and know what they are saying about who you are.
