I'd read on Wiki that some of the early 70s Zappa albums had been announced to be coming out in Quad. sound etc., at the time, but some never appeared in that medium, is that
    in fact, true?

Saw someone reviewing this unboxing etc . last week. Well, it's about $100 US here, a bit pricey but you get plenty for your money. I listened to the orig. album
again last week as well, still a solid LP. Hilarious album cover as well.

Wow, that might be interesting. hope Ahmet had good musical advisors for this one. He tends to include some awful tracks which his father would have never released.

    Thanks for informing us!
RDNZL you pronounce "redunzel", as if there were vowels.
To be honest, when you started, I was eager to buy the thing, when you were finished, I was yet again disappointed by UMG and the ZFT.
Before/While Apostrophe' and Overnite Sensation were recorded Frank toured the US, Australia and Europe with this outstanding band with Jean-Luc Ponty and Sal Marquez. This predates the theatrical stuff with Napoleon. There are only bootlegs available of this tour, by now pretty many. And you can hear the development: in the US the band still had to get used to Frank's really difficult material, in Australia Frank had planned to record a live in Australia album so you can really notice how much they had been rehearsing (recording failed because of a strike of the electricity workers, and Frank had to use generators that caused a humming distortion), and in Europe they were perfect, especially in Scandinavia (though Sal was missing). A long story short: so why then picking a live concert of the time where the band wasn't at it's peak???!!! OK, perhaps that was the best recording on sound quality, I don't know.
Yes, it's OK to release at least ONE live concert of this specific band which had been ignored by Frank. But I keep repeating myself: UMG, and before ZFT, just release the unfiltered master tapes of the live concerts, for god's sake!!!
Yes, the super duper sound, yes, the studio bla bla versions, also very interesting.
I just don't understand why they always want to do so much editing. The only and best chief editor, Frank, is dead, you can't do, what he did.
    Just release concerts!!!

Its funny , as an 8 year old in '74 I started with 2 of the "Harder to digest" ZAPPAs (for some folks) UNCLE MEAT and LUMPY GRAVY …they made me a life long fan And then I started to collect everything I could find

I wont be getting as it was not that long ago that it was remastered, cut by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman's and released anyway, I already have that one. I believe it to be another UMG cash grab, there are loads of Zappa albums which haven't as yet been re-issued, frinstance:
Bongo Fury, Studio Tan, Sleep Dirt, Jazz from Hell, Tiseltown Rebellion, You Are What You Is, Mothers of Prevention and Perfect Stranger etc, etc.
These are the ones I would like to see and the rest, so i can re-buy them before I pop my clogs, which at age 67 doesn't leave me a great deal of time left on my clock!

Tried to find a pre-order, only one atm is the official Zappa site, problem with that is extra shipping AND taxes. I have bought most previous box sets via UK Amazon, but they are not showing it (yet), will have to wait.

Am I buying it? Hell yes! I have every Zappa release, including all the box sets and dozens of "unofficial" releases, so glad the estate has moved away from the irrelevant novelties such as masks and capes and present the music in a simple smart box.

Looking forward to seeing an unboxing clip.

Along with Apostrophe ('), Hot Rats, Wazoo, Roxy, One Size, Sheik & Joe's Garage, it's a favorite ZAPPA album for me.

And really, thanks to brilliant tracks like "Dirty Love," "Zomby Woof" and "Montana," with those killer, razor blade solos in tow, OVERNITE SENSATION is usually announced as at least a "Top 3" FZ 4 me.

Been a Zappa fan since the age of 8 in '74, when my older sister handed me her Apostrophe (') 8-track tape to check out. 'Twas love at first listen. 🎧

About time this great record (the perfect bedfellow of Apostrophe) is given deluxe treatment!

All that said, I'm quite selective about the Super Deluxe boxes that I decide to purchase. So many are superfluous and/or repetitive and bloated.

For me, it either has to be connected to a very special artist/album, or contain things that are truly worthy and exciting. Seems that this set lines up mostly with the former. But in the end, think I'm gonna have to have this one, Barry.

    p.s. Dig the AC/DC. âš¡
