Awesome concept! Yes, I had a shitty childhood too, and yes, other kids had it worse, but… we didn't deserve what we got anymore than those other kids. I think it's important to acknowledge that in the process of letting it go. I think of forgiveness as a form of acceptance. Yes, it happened. We can start over, but I'm not going to forget, and I'm also not going to give you access to my soft underbelly until you earn my trust either.

My oldest brother used to beat me for stepping in when he was beating his wife who was in a wheelchair. My evangelical relatives kept telling me to "forgive and forget." They wanted me to stay with my elderly father who I was caring for. (My brother and his wife lived with us because he is lazy and likes being supported. Anyway, my relatives would quote bible verses at me as to why I should tolerate this behavior. Eventually I moved out. My sister-in-law died shortly after of reasons unknown. My father acquired some broken ribs and wrist followed by "bone diseases" that killed him. I am still considering whether I should forgive. I will never forget. I no longer have any contact with my family (who keep bailing my brother out). The response of the god fearing community to my situation has made me an atheist. No god would tolerate this behavior or tolerate his followers condoning this behavior.

Everyday I watch at least one of your videos. I always feel like we are hidden somewhere in the library or some unused classroom in with 50 years of bad carving on ancient desks. Just 3 or 4 of us, talking frankly about things most don't notice or care. So, thank you for making me feel like a part of your life. You have a very special gift, you exude honesty.
