Fallout – Looper Got It Wrong

Looper | September 2, 2025

Looper.com’s “Fallout” review gave the show a 4/10. The Looper video team, however, has our own opinion – and we have the keys to the YouTube channel. You’re invited to our civil war. Bombs away! (Warning: contents may be radioactive.)

Zombies? Waste world? It's Ghouls and Wasteland, at least pretend you have a clue about the games haha, but interesting to see an assessment on the standard of show without a previous understanding of the plot

Fred Armisen playing “Hipster radio”? What the hell was hipster about his character?
You are attaching his Portlandia characters to all of Fred’s performances.

This guys doesn't have a clue what he's on about either. Clearly never played the game. It's a solid 10/10 and to say rotten tomatoe over rated it. 😂😂 behave.

Looper claiming they got it wrong is such an understatement as they constantly get it wrong and half the time, they aren't even really good at their jobs either. Fallout is a 9/10.

7/10 is still too low. The production value is through the roof. It is doing something original even with a Very established IP and it fully respect the lore and the fans. That is super rare in game adaptations, not just from Hollywood, but even Japanese cinema where game/anime/manga adaptations are part of the media.

I would rate this up there with Alice in Borderlands and Squid Games.

Regarding the characters, the show made us care about all the major players even with the limited screentime. We'll certainly see Hank in Season2 but I bet Moldaver will be back too. Steph & Chet may be involved in experiments for Vault 32, Norm may be put through Bud's bud program in the pods, Thaddeus may became a super mutant.

More importantly we learn what happens to New Vegas after the bomb wiped Shady Sands off the map.

I love that the thing that finally makes Lucy openly decide that she hates the surface is meeting "people who eat people".

Spoilers for Yellowjackets … actually no spoilers. Just, it's funny. Trust me.

I'm still waiting for when the ideas of self-determination, fate and the impact of AI will make themselves known.
Because this is a Jonathan Nolan & Lisa Joy show. At least ONE (probably two and quite possibly all three) of those concepts will become a main theme ofthe show.

I think of the Fallout TV series as being somewhere between a TV show and a video game, like an extended 'cutscene'—a very, very long one. So if look at it in that perspective the show is pretty solid.

If the Fallout TV show ever leaves the '50s as you suggest, it would stop being Fallout. The aesthetics and the music are core to what makes Fallout Fallout. Not understanding that means you simply do not understand the show.

I was actually pleasantly surprised and entertained with Fallout. It is certainly a better movie adaptation than Doom or the later versions of Resident Evil.

I finished the show and it's good AF 👍🏻💯I got into Fallout games back Fallout and 3 New Vegas. And the show I give it a 9.2. This show has so much potential, could do a full Ghoul and Mutant season a Legendary bug or water monster season, so much this is a great start good shit.

Actually, I liked the flashbacks, that's something that you can do in a TV show, bit would not work that well in a game.
The only things I don't like are, the writing depends sometimes too much on convenient coincidences, and I also think there are some plot holes, like who cleaned up Vault 32 that fast and also Vault-Tecs plan makes no economical sense. (Then again, Bethesdas writing isn't top notch either)
    I'am fine with 7/10

Sorry, but you can't have a main character (a hero) who has no virtues and always makes his decisions out of weakness and desperation rather than strength. Maximus possesses no redeeming virtues from the very beginning. You can't do that with a character and get audience engagement to care about that character.

Your audience has to either like your characters or respect them. It's impossible to like or respect someone who doesn't even have any prerequisite for a hero — they must possess most virtues and lack only one or 2. Maximus has no virtues in the beginning despite the fact that he's a grown adult. A protagonist must have a few flaws but still possess some redeeming virtues.

Maximus has none. He lacks intelligence, courage, loyalty, principles, virtuous motivation, or anything which even the worst human on Earth would minimally possess. We're supposed to believe he wants the suit so he can be a hero, but the manner in which he acquires it erases any personality trait which would make him heroic. Go ahead and name any real life human monster you can imagine and I can name a virtue they possess which Maximus doesn't. The worst psychopaths known to man were at least bold and determined. The ones who are most famous possessed high intelligence. You can even respect a serial killer even though you loathe them. It's impossible to like or respect Maximus.

Further, his characterization was that of a 12 year old boy who has just begun adolescence. FFS he even acted like he didn't know what his own pen*s was for. No normal man can respect any adult male character who seems to possess no male segx drive. In stark comparison, the heroine had the segxual morality of a chimp — without any sense that she possesses any capacity to connect love with segx.

And who are we to believe she loves? The freak of nature who doesn't know how his f**k-stick functions? No vvoman on Earth is turned on by that. In fact, they're disgusted AF by such men.

It was like watching 2 aliens pretending to be humans but missing the mark.

Only the Ghoul possessed anything remotely resembling real human motivation. Without Goggins, I would've stopped watching Fallout 3/4 of the way into the first Episode.

And who still thinks that guys are out here c**king for Girl Boss heroes? If you just read the script, you wouldn't be able to tell that the heroine was female. It was like watching a man pretending to be a vvoman. If the role can more believably be played by the opposite segx, you don't have a character, you have a golem masquerading as one.

There are great ways to imbue characters with weaknesses without making them unlikable, contemptible, or unbelievable. Fallout failed at this with 2/3 of their main characters. It was an affront to good writing and an insult to the intelligence of their audience.

Perhaps people have grown so accustomed to sewage that drinking odorless sludge seems refreshing.

    Rotten tomatoes doesn't set that 93% score, it's 93% positive reviews…
Maximus doesn't have any interest to save the world. Only to get revenge on the ones that hurt him, and to help Lucy along the way.

Looper must have noticed that even with 5.7 million subs, the only way they can get more than 50,000 views on a video is if it is a fallout video.

Way to walk it back. Shouldn't you guys be reviewing more dogshit super hero movies or something?

The guy who pulled him out of the power armor is from the shows super store and son of Zorn, he was also in 21 jump street. No no he was a birthday performer because he was divorcing his wife because she was one of many from vault tech who dropped the bombs
