A major barrier I personally face is continuing to let myself think I care about that person's wellbeing or getting the notion in my head that I can make them regret not being "my" person. In both cases, um, yo. Okay, me. You care WAY too much about what's going on with their life. You will NEVER and should NEVER be involved with that person again. Just stop. Don't check their reddit or twitter, don't send them messages wishing them well to prove how over them you are (oh god why, it's so pathetic). Just don't.

I fell in love with a girl, she was (is still) amazing, it was the first time I really fell in love, it took me like more than 1 year realizing (all by myself) that it would not happening, and, yes, it's true that, when you come to that point, it's really hard, but I took on myself, get over it, and now we are still friends. I would have not imagine that I can see her, as a friend, without being "hurt". But I can. It was really not easy to get over that feeling I had every time I saw her, but I made it. So, it's possible for everyone. (At least if you still want to see that person regularly) The only time I fell in love, it was with the wrong person… But, hey, I still have a long life ahead of me 🙂

For people with that problem, i had it like 2 years ago. You might want to try something like meditation;

It's really hard to explain but basically you have to try to be at peace and "kill the feels" by regulating your chemical balance and suppress all the chemical reactions in your brain (who start due to memories, invisible smells etc)

It's really really hard for some people and time / maturity (especially after 18-19 ) helps a lot.

In brief it's just trying to "not feel" by meditation and force of will.

Hope it's an interresting lead for someone (i did it at 21 and i never had any problem ever since with anyone i had a crush or fell in love with)

Best way to get over someone is get under someone else

When this happens to me I focus on my training for a few weeks. A couple more break-ups and I'll be a freaking black belt. Seriously, though, I do need to go to the dojo way more often. I should be a brown belt by now but I've missed so many classes and gradings for being ill or stressed or my depression acting up that I'm only a yellow.
