Exploring Arturia’s Massive “V 6” Collection
This video has been banned and later automatically edited for using a brief clip demonstrating a DX7’s use in Laura Branigan’s music. I sincerely apologize to both Laura Branigan and WMG for damaging your business, as I’m sure millions of people have just listened to a 5 second clip of “Self-Control” with me talking about FM synthesis over it on loop rather than just typing the song title into YouTube and listening to it that way. YOU ARE DOING THE LORD’S WORK WITH YOUR NOT AT ALL PEDANTIC AND RIDICULOUS COPYRIGHT TAKE DOWNS WMG!
I promised myself I’d make this video under 30 minutes long. I failed. If you have a stick, don’t shake it at Arturia’s V Collection, because there’s too many synths.

Hey guys. I'm sorry about my NOT mentioning of Dieter Doepfer. Of course Doepfer is a huge, vital player in the invention and evolution of Eurorack. I was just referring to Buchla Vs. Moog's interpretation of early modular synthesizers. My focus for that part of the video wasn't on the history of modular synthesis, but just how a Buchla differs from the more common subtraction groundwork originally laid out by Bob Moog. Dieter, if you're reading this, I'm sorry and I hope you've spent all my money over the years on something really cool, like a Jet Ski or one of those robotic mattresses that adjusts to the contour of your body.

Ben, when NI’s B4 disappeared from their catalog, the B-3 module appeared only a couple months after in Apple’s Logic Pro.
It’s obvious to me that NI needed some $$, and sold the B4 to the Logic folks. The Logic B-3 is the best emulation of a Hammond & Leslie I have heard out there – including the B3 in the Arturia V6 collection. It’s kinda sad that ya have to use Logic to use their B-3 emulator. Not for me, but for you.
The Wurlitzer E Piano is great. The Juno and Jupiter modules are damn good, too.
I had an og DX7 back in the ‘80’s, and I have to say, not only is the Arturia version is easier to program, it simply sounds better, richer than the original 12bit machine.

Whilst I don't think I ever want to experience virtual Benn ever again, this is easily my favourite look at the Arturia Collection. The Blade Runner spoof was sublime, alone with the other weird historical clips, but best of all was just letting the synths do the talking, with occasional interjections of additional information.

Why do violin builders keep building similar violins?? 🤔
So that's why synth builders keep building iterations of the same synths… They probably like the sound(s) of the instrument(s) they are building…

I just wanted to say that I dont know jack shit about synths in general, I can make serum go brrrrr.
Synths are not the reason I'm watching this video, you are, everything you're doing is like all I ever wanted to do.
I'm so happy for you.

Arturia's "Collection" has grown a lot in the last few years, and it's worth noting that you get about $200 off the full "Collection" if you've purchased a Keylab controller. Analog Lab comes with the controller. It has many of the sounds, but you can't edit them. I just recently bought the whole Collection so that I could have full editing of the sounds. It is amazing.

Hey Benn, you probably won't read this, given that it's an old video, but I just want to let you know that this video, along with your VCV video, effectively changed my life by getting me interested in synthesis and sound design. Four years later and it's one of my main passions in life. Thank you for opening my eyes to this fascinating world <3

Please arturia, why your products are not never provided with real useful paper manuals, translated into multiple languages? I think it's a serious lack, which takes away points from the brand.

Great parody Benn. – could feel the Blade Runner love. RIP Vangelis. Lovely demo. Didn't consider that Arturia's collection had anything worth taking a look at. Your CS-80 demo was moving.

That ARP segment at 26:40-ish is how Big Audio Dynamite did the outro to their track “Contact.”
