I’ve noticed this since the 2020 covid shutdown, which also seemed like an experiment. You all of a sudden showed up in my algorithm, and an entire bunch of doom stuff as well, which I can’t help be skeptical that it’s also experimental. The ONLY way out of all of this is a revolution. The people who control our governments are the same people who control every single type of media and gaming. The AI also monitors and removes comments such as this one, we are trapped.

I remember watching a video essay that did the same exact thing about going back to the beginning, it wasn't some cartoon or anything but it was about the two (e)f5s that hit Moore Oklahoma back in 1999 and 2013. This guy spent a long amount of time talking about the dark history of Oklahoma and then after a while started talking about the tornados that hit the town. The video in my opinion seemed extremely distasteful, and it felt like the creator of the video implied that the town deserve the devastation from the tornado

Funnily enough the AI summaries under YouTube videos seem to be aiming for the opposite effect. I don't know why they're even there except for people who would rather read a couple of sentences than watch the video. AI companies started off not wanting people to actually read and now it seems as if they don't want people to watch stuff.

This is my favourite video because this is how I found out about zenless I sound like a poorly disguised advertisement but no joke I actually owe my life to this app. Being able to set my own random rules for my phone and seeing a constant reminder of how long I spend on my phone is SO helpful and to prove this is not an advertisement potato potato potato potato seafood boil apple is a lil bitch mulberry jam 🤯🤯🤯🤔😋

I remember coming across a 4-part netflix documentary about the gardner museum heist, which i'd heard about from buzzfeed unsolved. The first episode of the doc was so boring bc they barely talked about the case. It made me think, hey, why do they need 4 hours to tell a story that was recapped just as well (if not better) in under 20 minutes?

6:52 If Netflix likes to inflate your time spent watching something so much why would they care about second screen stuff? Wouldn’t it be best to keep things niche and have you pay lots of attention to understand a story so that a person who wants to know what’s going on has to spend time rewatching episodes which would take longer than watching an episode once because the information is so heavily forced?

one of the best videos ive seen is an hour and a half historical analysis of wicked as if it were real. when people actually are interested in what they are talking about, it really does make a difference

im a big fan of playing gen 4 and older pokemon, and i decided to play pokemon moon, and noticed how fucking slow the game was compared to older games. making me do all this side shit, pulling me left and right to do this one thing that i will never do. It felt like it was trying to make the game last as long as possible

Netflix don't really benefit from watch time – they are fine with you paying monthly to watch one movie a year – but the payment allocation incentivices show runners to get longer view times. Netflix should really find a way to get them to compete on quality, not watch time.

One early example I found was with Mythbusters. Don't get me wrong, I love the show, but the editing is abysmal. In a 20–30 minute episode there must be around 10-15 minute of content. The rest is full of recaps, introductions, and the narrator repeating the same things

Once you notice orators repeating themselves every five minutes, it's really hard to stop noticing. It happens in documentaries, in tv shows, especially in youtube video essays. "This is my point, and this is a bit of elaboration on my point, and this is my point rephrased to sound more confident, and here's a summary of everything I've said so far describing my point, and here's why it all proves my point, and…" my guy. The conclusion goes at the end of the essay. I don't need a summary or a recap every two minutes, I need you to convey information in a timely and concise manner.
Some people blame the rise of "second screen syndrome" for this kind of writing. They assume you will not be paying any attention to what is being said, and to make sure it seeps in through background osmosis while doomscrolling reddit will repeat themselves as bluntly and as often as possible so you couldn't miss anything. I can't speak to the veracity of this claim, but the effect is the same regardless: our intelligence is insulted, our time is wasted, and the person who wasnt paying attention still isn't.
