Just got my copy! The demos are great to have. A real highlight is the incredibly funky instrumental version of "Susie (Dramas)." Dee Murray (bass) and Nigel Olsson (drums) could funk things up in those days. The extended rocking piano outro on the demo of "Hercules" is cool to have. Some of the demos have alternative instrumentation which initially gave some of the songs a bit more of a Southern (Louisiana) US feel than did the final album versions.

A very Mike Nesmith looking picture towards the end of the booklet.

Glad you seem to feel better. Used to have the album on vinyl, one of his best albums.

I think we can all agree, there was a time when Elton John really nailed-it.

CD booklets would be fine but the text is always too bloody small in them. My eyes start to hurt and I give up reading. I have no such issues with books or anything else

Don't be pushing yourself too much Barry. Towards the end it sounded like your voice was starting to give a bit. Anyhow, Honky Chateau is one of my faves from Mr. Dwight. I'm with you. The early albums are by far the best. Madman, Tumbleweed, Don't Shoot Me, Yellow Brick road….even the first 2 had some really great stuff on them. Thanks again for your unboxing. Loved it. Take good care. Catch you soon.

My copy is on the way! HONKY CHATEAU was the first Elton album to feature his touring band (Dee Murray, Nigel Olsson and the recently joined Davey Johnstone) on record fulltime. Classic period, for sure. Thanks for sharing.

I love this period of Elton John's work too. This was the first EJ album I bought when it came out.

Looks nice that Barry. Great album with some really strong material, although I could never get on with the opening track, perhaps the weakest opener on Elton's classic releases. It has a great horn section but it's just too lightweight as a song.
