I remember following what Elio Motors was doing because I really liked the idea (I follow Aptera for the same reason).
I knew they had gone out of business but I had no idea they tried to be cute with the State of Louisiana and got fined.

Aptera was founded in 2006. Elio Motors was founded in 2008. Granted, when Aptera first started they were going to go with an efficient gas motor. The company did change hands but the concept and shape of Apteras super efficient three wheeler was the same. They just decided to do it in electric instead of gas. So No. Elio is not the original Aptera.

Why would anyone give money to a company for a product that is not even in production? It's ludicrous. I wanted Elio to succeed but I am not going to risk my money.

Originally they ( Aptera ) talked about hand making CF versions like boats they could have and sold them as completed auction to the highest bidder made $ like lots of low-volume carmakers!
Fisker made a bunch of pretty good cars sadly many were ruined by sitting outside in a storm ! yes it $ ruined the company !
APtera To me ? it all fell apart when it was exposed the hub motors were a lie ! ( they knew for years used the lie about the non existent tech to get investors ) not ready ,could not be made ready and the co had no ability to make them!
w/ out hub motors ( invented over 125 years ago ) none of the other features like AWD, traction control and torque vectoring etc would work!
The aptera FB groups all banned my bro reservation holder and good guy and deleted his thousands of excellent comments, posts as he is not a TRUE BELIEVER ! they are total canceling, censoring,banning woke idiots Jerks !
Join his FB group "Aptera " he got there first got the name ! 147 members! NO canceling , censorship ! say anything you like !

We still see Paul Elio driving a prototype sometimes late at night he lives in the Phoenix area that was actually a brilliant engineer and figured out how to pull off a scam and never get in trouble the company is technically still in business legally selling stock for about 1/10 of a cent but you can't buy any I tried

These are very similar to the Sinclair C5 which was invented in 1985.
