Fred was real. At the end, she solves her problems, she and Fred say goodye to each other. She visits Mickey and his daughter Natalie, who blames Drop Dead Fred for the mischief that just caused her nanny to quit. Elizabeth realizes Fred is now with Natalie, although she cannot see him anymore. He moved on to Elizabeth, showing that he's real.

As a child I always dismissed this movie as little more then a Beetlejuice wannabe, but as an adult it becomes really difficult to watch when you realize it's basically the origin story of that lady who lives on the subway and has all her personal possessions in a bunch of shopping bags from department stores that went out of business twenty years ago.

The British guy is awful and makes the movie unwatchable. If they could've got Jim Carrey or someone who can play likable-annoying, it would have been decent, but Fred, Rik whatever makes every scene painful. God he sucks
