There has been an absolute media frenzy surrounding the release of Olivia Wilde’s Don’t Worry Darling. Did Harry Styles spit on Chris Pine? Was Shia Laboeuf fired? Did Olivia Wilde and Florence Pugh get in a shouting match on set? Are Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde even still talking? Did Nick Kroll just kiss Harry Styles?! In the midst of all the chaos, it’s been easy to forget that there’s an actual movie surrounding the drama!

Don’t Worry Darling definitely raises some questions. Like what is going on, and will we get any answers for any of it? How does this simulation thing even work? How is Jack’s simulation life any better than his previous life? How does this simulation not have any safeguards against escape? What was the point of the electroshock therapy if it doesn’t even hold for five minutes? Did three cars just crash into each other in an open desert?

To answer all these questions, check out the pitch meeting that led to the Don’t Worry Darling!

Wow so after listning to this plot and so many easy plot holes (which anyone would actually would find) the ratings of this film isn't that bad Man. I mean >6 IMDB is for films which had a great potential but missed in execution in one or two departments.

its a shame the movie turned out so silly, the idea of those manosphere "escape the matrix" losers getting what they want means that women have to be put into a much worse "matrix", but the movie was just so uninteresting and random that I just left the movie kinda baffled at why it was made that way lol

My main issue was they made this completely virtual world complete with virtual characters mixed with the real people and their “significant others” they covet, but they couldn’t just make these women (and men) a facsimile like the NPC characters? No real world kidnapping/trafficked/slave situation needed? Idea felt a bit half baked.

Of all the inane, nonsensical things in this movie (which is 100% of the runtime), the most egregious thing is the basic premise. Guys in the real world can't get jobs, want to be the breadwinner in their relationships out of some weird male ego thing, and so they… put their wives into a permanent simulation? That effectively ends their relationship, it's no different from them just getting a divorce. Except now they also have to administer eye drops (and everything else Ryan said).
