On Today’s Episode:
How do you protect your mind from all the chaos going on and get mentally stronger from the person that attacks your mental state more than anyone, yourself? It’s easy to say that you don’t have to believe everything you think, but with thousands of thoughts running through your mind and the overwhelming information pouring in from social media and news outlets, the challenge is tougher than ever before.
The need to overcome the negative thoughts throwing you off the path of happiness, fulfillment, and success is bigger than ever before. This episode is one to watch several times like a masterclass to really understand how to implement these ideas and tactics shared by some of the most extraordinary people.
This episode will help you:
Become conscious of how you think and feel in the moment
Practice not saying negative things out loud (because words are powerful)
Change negative behaviors holding you back in life
Understand that neutral thinking is truth based thinking

~@1:55 "It doesn't matter what you look at …" This part made me hear my brides voice as if she had just said it again. Having done the postmortem of my 22 year long 1st marriage, a process that lasted 10 years during which I was also a celibate single father, before I met an incredible woman. She had traveled a similar route and had taken the time to finish raising her children before considering a new mate. We met, fell in love, got married and even to this day spend and incredible amount of time talking with each other, easily 3 – 4 hours a day. During a very stressful patch in our 2nd year of marriage (health, money, ex's creating issues and the like) she said to me "Sometimes you're too stern with me." She said it in a such a soft and calm voice that it hit me harder than any fight, betrayal or negative interaction I ever had with my first wife, high school or college girlfriends. From that moment on I have always paused, taken a very deep breath, then consciously chosen language that actually expressed what I felt, conveyed what I intended and articulated what I actually ment. Words are so sharp and meanings are so powerful, especially when trying to communicate with someone who gets you and is on your side. And that is the other point, what we say to ourselves, the tone of our internal dialogue, the real meaning of the words of our self talk verses the actual message we are trying to convey to ourselves, it's important to articulate them well.

I want to get out of a toxic work environment, but I’m scared because I have a disability and don’t know if I can do the new job. Is it better to stay put and feel abused or go through the trouble of learning a totally new job with all the energy that that takes and it’s an unknown if you’re going to get a better boss or better coworkers?

Cognitive behavioral therapy and scientific word salad.
He is right on changing the way you think affects your overall body. This is called cognitive behavioral therapy, it's not magic, it's science.
I was done when he started on the factory worker explanation. 2 workers together for 30 years, 1 gets cancer the other dosent. It's because of his thoughts. 😂
You can't think your way out of sickness or real medical conditions. The way he is selling this is as if you can think your way out of anything, this is a very dangerous idea.
A placebo is literally your thoughts affecting your health. A placebo has never cured a disease that requires medicine.
Go get ringworm and then try and think it away, see what happens.

Hey, Tom … You say that, for you, if you have a strong desire to do or be something that's important (to you, of course) and the belief that you actually can get there and be there, then discipline (motivation) will automatically follow. What would you say to a person who has spent a lifetime putting off until tomorrow, or next week, or next month, all those hard things that need to be done to begin to get there?

It makes me sad that so many brilliant people feel in order to protect themselves they must suggest therapy. Something that is not an exact science and can cause more damage by keeping the person trapped in only exploring the problem and not seeking any new direction in a forward solution. Going to the gym. Setting goals are a guarantee for success. Therapy is very expensive guess work that can enslave a mind for decades with no guarantee of positive results. But in order to not be sued one must suggest therapy. I understand it. It still makes me feel sad it is the way it is.

Find out the times of day when your brain churns, and watch it as the observer and allow the negative emotions. Don’t tamp them down, but don’t feed the monkeys either. Gradually the repetitive thoughts are less and less stressful. Watch the monkeys, don’t deny them. Over time, you’ll heal and feel better. Takes patience but worth it

Sheesh man this all changed my life. I saw this video five years ago while working at Redhat and wrote an 2000 word article in a secretove and witty tone and my job found out about me making money online and they asked me to resign… Apparently this information is coveted and shouldnt be well known… Sad shit

I remember watching this months ago on the way to pick up my girlfriend. She's had a history of trauma which contributed to her negative thinking, which also had an impact on our relationship. I never really make anyone watch videos but this video I HAD to show her. Something clicked for her that day after I showed her this video. Our relationship improved dramatically over time since she watched this and always points to this video as the turning point in what made her change.❤️
