DJENT Bands RANKED
Today we are ranking DJENT bands, and putting it out there, I do NOT consider this to be a genre but more of an approach to guitar, thus the diversity of some of the bands on this list. Regardless, from the mighty Meshuggah to the core foundations of Periphery and architects, this tier list covers 32 BANDS that love the rhythm and groove above all else.

My top are Meshuggah, car bomb and vildhjarta by quite the margain.
fantastic would be: tesseract, AAL, veil of maya, jinjer, mirar probably.
Not really into all the core stuff and I think veil of maya was a lot better in their first 2 albums than their recent deathcore kinda sound, but damn their first 2 records were strong.
Not a super fan of spiritbox, polyphia, sleep token or after the burial. Not nessecarily for any reason with ATB I just don’t really vibe with most of their songs
A lot of the other bands I haven’t listened to enough to fully form an opinion on.
Periphery is decent though but they peaked at their 3rd album imo

Great TOP, Monuments should be at least fantastic, literally they have the most dynamic and heavy riffs

Within the Ruins always makes me think "Tetriscore" and as a Tetris fan, I love it
@trisix99
December 14, 2025 at 4:19 pm
This ranking is all over the place and inconsistent… it’s just what his experience with Djent has been and much of it is chronological
@THREAT_SIGHTED
December 14, 2025 at 4:19 pm
I would add Threat Signal to this list.
@Im-Br00tal
December 14, 2025 at 4:19 pm
The fact that Reflections and Sentinels didn't make this list is a crime

I wish The Contortionist were more active. I understand they have had members getting married, starting families, some have had recent loss too, but at one point they were a band I loved above all else. Language and Clairvoyant are both heavily underrated because they took huge risks as a “djent” band to strip their sound back to less brutality and more emotional and ambient levels. Might not be for those looking for heaviness, but more for the feels.

You should check out “Forevermore” they were a Christian Djent band, and they put out killer Djent songs. Unfortunately they’ve been broken up since 2016 though. They’re my personal favorite Djent band. It’s a shame when great bands break up. A few songs by them I would recommend are …
1. Moths and Rust
2. The Curse of Complacency
3. Wormtongue
4. The Wide, The Narrow
5. Charlatan

If I was doing this tier list, the Okay tier would be empty. It's my favorite genre (yes it's a genre, it's 2025 man)
@Dr.Acula3000
December 14, 2025 at 4:19 pm
Djent isn't my thing at all, in fact I genuinely dislike a lot of these bands, but Car Bomb and Sikth are two bands I go back to pretty often.

Hey! new to the channel! I appreciate the honesty and the takes on the bands! I DEFINATELY would have put Tesseract and The Contortionist higher! Tesseract's first album get's a lot of love, and The Contortionist's album "Language" (me personally) is amazing! Spiritbox I think was scored low (again I get the criticism), but respect the opinion! Vola's first album is amazing if you haven't checked them out enough. And as a fellow (huge) Periphery fan I appreciate the rating for them! Excited to check out more vids!!

I don't get why Polyphia is even in this video, their stuff is not djenty at all.
@codingtranquility
December 14, 2025 at 4:19 pm
13:20 – YES! When I listen to Volumes I heard moments of perfection. And then 4 tracks of sameshit nothing. They could be amazing, but just stay mid.

I would personally rank Northlane higher, expecially their last 2 LPs but i get the ranking – the thing is that they are more of an industrial band compared to their older stuff and the djent-y elements are far less noticeable. Would also rank Tesseract higher and would highly recommend a fuller listen since you say you don't have as much exposure to them – the thing with them is that each album almost has a completely different feel to it.
@nwebster2012
December 14, 2025 at 4:19 pm
I would have thrown Danza and Glass Cloud on this list as well.
@macornman
December 14, 2025 at 4:19 pm
Dang really sad to see contortionist get “okay”. One of my favorites, and I would have said fantastic
@macornman
December 14, 2025 at 4:19 pm
Animals as Leaders not perfection is a hot take…
@borja6324
December 14, 2025 at 4:19 pm
Sleep Token and The Contorsionist at the very bottom… wtf
@goobingtons
December 14, 2025 at 4:19 pm
This might be one of the worst lists I've ever seen.
@Jorgetime
December 14, 2025 at 4:19 pm
That Northlane rating is the biggest crime here, you should give them another shot, I can understand why someone would think it's very octanecore from the singles, but listen to something like Jinn or Worldeater. The deeper cuts always had super interesting stuff. It's a very influential band imo.

Volumes so low 😞 they’re one of the better pop djent bands out there. Think they’re way better than spiritbox.
@justicedefreest
December 14, 2025 at 4:19 pm
I also remember the first time I heard Icarus Lives, sitting in my dorm room and browsing YouTube in college. I really wasn’t a fan of their latest album, which is a shame because everything before that was basically perfection for me. Hopefully it’ll grow on me over time.

I think two bands I think need more appreciation in djent is stone side is pretty cool, and destiny potato is a crazy band that only made one album a while ago but It is pretty fun and full of bangers.
@supergenesis6494
December 14, 2025 at 4:19 pm
Auras is another super underrated band. Heliospectrum is imo top 3 djent albums along with Amanuensis and P2

@p.inside
December 14, 2025 at 4:19 pm
You dont understand Sleep Tokens Music and say its „confusing“.
Its okay to Not Like it, but in a musician way, its the definition of perfection.

The best bands in this ranking are VOLA, Jinjer, Humanity's Last Breath, Spiritbox, and Periphery.
Out of every band listed that I haven't heard of before, the most impressive is Unprocessed. Those riffs are insane and their music videos are pretty cool.
