Small mammalians (who could hide and survive underground) and ocean creatures survived the impact and fallout of the asteroid, which is where mammals as we know it evolved from. Avian dinosaurs were survivors as well while all the non-avian dinosaurs died out. The avian dinosaurs (not pterodactyls tho bc they technically were not dinosaurs) are where modern birds evolved from. Their lineage directly connects to that ancient lineage, making all modern living birds dinosaurs by definition. The mass extinction event was called "The Great Dying"- perhaps that's what Nick was trying to get at with "The Big Bang Theory"…… lmaoooo

This is old but Sara was likely named that because Triceratops (Cera in the name) and because triceratops are part of the Ceratopsian family of dinosaurs.

I don't know why I listened to this, but I came away dumber than when the video started.
I was big into paleontology in 2nd grade and read college-level books about dinosaurs back then, and was astounded at the jumps in logic and oversight of fact.
Matt knew a lot, but still hopscotched a bit.
