   The story about Sony and physical games reminds me of physical ownership of other types of media, like music and movies. I used to buy/collect movies I enjoyed so I could always have them but now many places don't sell them anymore, like Best Buy. Fortunately I can still purchase physical movies and music from online stores or from a local store that specializes in reselling used media (shout out to the Last Stop CD Shop in Sioux Falls, SD). If there aren't physical games anymore, what impact will that have on brick an mortar stores? You had a banger of an episode this week George! Thanks for all you do!

   Ted’s Hot Takes:
   1- Hate to see Sony stop physical but they have only had about 10 PS5 exclusive games in 6 years now, so not a huge loss numbers-wise even though big loss in stance.
   2- RetroGamers are unaffected by Sony because it’s only the Triple A games running on the high end devices for now.
   3- I started with PONG at home but by far the majority of my early gaming was hundreds of hours for hundreds of dollars where there was zero ownership involved. It was called the Arcade and it was glorious! (So I’m gonna be ok)
   4- Mame vs A.I. in that one story is like watching a movie where the somewhat ethical pirates are fighting the somewhat unethical pirates.
   5- You are awesome and thanks more than I can say for these weekly Bit-by-Bit episodes!!

   I had to laugh when you were referencing Brandon's age in comparison to yours since I was one of the parents paying for the hardware you young Gen X critters were playing on at home in the 70's.

   The ones that going under are companies like NIS America. Nobody is going to FOMO pre-order a digital copy of their latest PS6 release. When games like Muramasa Revenant Blades release on PS6 people just going to hold out and VanillaWare and NIS America will go bankrupt.

   This is one time that I just don’t see what the fuss is about. Since the PS4, many games require D1 updates, downloads, online connections. You simply cannot have a PS5 offline and have a good experience. There’s simply NO WAY you would be able to put a PS5 game in a PS5 in 20 years and have the same experience as you would today if you put a PS1 game in a PS1. Non equivalency. AND, people have been touting Steam for years now and a lot of the same people are griping about digital only content while planning their Steambox purchases? Lame. It’s a streaming, digital world now. That’s how it is. I’m really curious to see if people put their money where their mouth is and support companies putting out retro hardware. Somehow I doubt it.

   This outrage comes off to me as people that just want to be upset about something.

    Yes, Sony's announcement sucks for retro gamers, but it's not a shock at all, the only shock to me is why did they wait so long to do it, this should've happened two years ago. The amount of physical disks at retailers at launch were much lower than the previous years, everyone knew this was coming, so it is not shocking. Nintendo Switch games are basically a box with a code, they will follow suit as will X-Box. Sony knows that digital is where everything has gone and will continue to go, they calculate the possibility they will lose some customers over it, but it won't be enough to make a negative effect on business. Why should they pay to make disks, inserts, distribution and storage of disks, when the majority purchase digital and they can sell DLC's for the digital versions. Sony pulling support for Vita and PS3 is also not a shock. They are about to launch the PS6, they have to stop supporting those at some point, it makes sense. Sony sells many other products that keeps them going, and they have really never been a company that looks out for the best interest of the people who purchase their products.
    This will drive up retro prices even more, that is the part that sucks the most. This will also help the small retro resale stores and give people places to purchase retro gaming. Evercade, the Neo Geo ALS, and Atari have plenty of physical games available that cover a variety of games from multiple Era's. There are tons of products out there, emulation boxes, fight sticks, arcade machines, digital pinball units and so much more that can play our favorite games whenever we want. I am wondering if the PS6 will basically be a PC at this point. The Steam Machine may be a better way to without the need for a subscription. Game On!

    There was no need to convert that Blu-ray printing plant. The PlayStation fans that bought physical media invested enough to fund it.
