1.Vatican has an army (Swiss guard)
2.Im a member of the catholic church, and therefore pay taxes to the catholic church (German church tax)
3.at least in Germany the cathlic church also has it`s own seperate judicial responsibilitys. My moms collegue got fired from her Catholic-kindegarten teacher job, because she got divorced and remarried
4.Catholic church can`t put you in jail, but can prevent priests who do you know what to children from getting into prison.

Compulsory voting is the best happy accident of history that ever happened here in Australia.

We have our fair share of fringe wackos on both wings, but at the end of the day, every Australian normie is gonna show up and pick the other guy if you sound like an alarmist dickhead.

1:28:44 The point that Just Stop Oil really failed to make was that the things they were spraying paint on are things that we all enjoy and WANT to keep around – them included! The climate emergency is the thing that is threatening these not the protesters. Without humans around, who appreciates Stonehenge or Van Gogh?

A legal right to do legal wrongs is absolutely a thing- that's the gap between legislation and enforcement. For example there are great reasons to speed- the classic example of police escorting a woman in labor to the hospital. When California declared it would no longer be prosecuting recreational marijuana use, that's essentially declaring that it's okay to do so without the law/legality of it actually changing. There's no difference between an unenforced law and one that doesn't exist, except definitionally. A legal illegality

Things touch, the only thing you can argue is what it means to touch. which is not interesting when discussing the physics of billiard balls. It's pure escapism, even if it is not intentional. He is probably so defensive about his stances that he is physically incapable of debating in good faith.

As long as there is representation in the chamber where decisions are being made for an individual vote, then the vote does matter. You can only "lose" an election if your vote is not represented in government. If people are allowed to vote, and encouraged to vote, for the stance that most closely aligns with their views, and the party with that view has seats in parliament, then the vote mattered. Votes are only useless when there is an undeniable majority of a single option, where all votes that were not directly for that option have no representation. Coalitions of parties demands compromise based on the parties involved. Just because you have a smaller say you are not worthless. The coalition needs your support. The most reasonable distribution of voters would be a normal distribution across middle of the road parties, with few people at the extremes. We are seeing the American two party system create huge divide and giving space to fringe ideas in the large debates. In Sweden the high horse moral attitude of the mainstream parties made the far right grow, and now the softer right parties have caved in and allowed the far right into government(with caveats), giving more legitimacy to the far left and enticing the soft left to include the far left in their coalition. Reasonably, the soft left and right should be swaying the middle to their side on different issues, not leaning on their sides extremes for power. Dismissal and proclaimed higher intellect from the mainstream parties, without explicit argumentation, have led to this change.

The actual public square does still exist and it’s mostly uncensored. At least it’s the place where free speech really does apply. How do we forget that free speech means that the government shall create now law restricting speech? Not that twitch is obligated to do anything about your speech
