I don't invest emotional energy in feuds between celebrities. But I think both sides of the Ozzy debate lose sight of things. Snyder has a point on the song writing I think. At the same time, that doesn't diminish Ozzy's talent. He does rely on people to write lyrics and he has good song writers around him in his band (and Lemmy definitely helped with No More Tears), but he is great at creating vocal melodies, and since he is the star of the band, I am sure he is still actively directing the lyric writing. Also Ozzy is hands down the best metal vocalist IMO. Especially in those early sabbath days

There was no point in Dee making that comment. Everyone knows. Bob Daisley has sued multiple times and Sharon re-recorded Blizzard and Dairy with different drums and bass marketed as the original. So why Dee said it makes no sense

When I saw a recording of that performance of Ritchie Blackmore together with Deep Purple, it felt like some long-broken piece of the Universe suddenly became whole again. This piece of the Universe is far away and doesn't concern me in a direct way… But it still was an immensely pleasant feeling. Will the band go on any further? Maybe, maybe not. But I think that this is as close to a happy ending as it can be.

Ugly Ozzy feud? How can the truth be ugly?
Ozzy's solo career would have never happened on his own because he was mentally finished. But Sharon's dad refused to loses his investment into Ozzy so he handed out even more cash and set Sharon onto him. They got Ozzy a band and writers and paid them scraps while Ozzy scored big. Dee was absolutely right to point this out and there is NOTHNG that Ozzy's remaining family can say to change these facts.

I was at the Deep Purple show (which rocked!) Did Ritchie play well? No, he was obviously out of practice. Did he look well? No, I know he's had several health issues as of late, especially back issues and you could tell. But neither of those things mattered, to see them on stage again, no animosity, just old friends having fun was exactly what it should have been. The reception they got was as thunderous as was deserved! A truly special moment in rock history.

Purple and Blackmore putting their differences aside for the "greater good" (rock and roll awesomeness) was a beautiful thing to witness, certainly not something I ever thought I would be lucky enough to see in my lifetime!
Peace and love, everyone. Long live rock and roll!

Kelly is being a petty POS like her mother on this one. Ozzy is great without the incorrect notion that he wrote the lyrics he sung. Living in the false reality where he did is just silly and needs to be called out. Idk why Daisley continued to work with Ozz after the Blizzard fiasco, but he did, all the way through No Rest For The Wicked. The next studio album from Oz was No More Tears where Lemmy wrote a bunch of songs with Zakk. Next album Oz got back with Geezer for Ozzmosis. Dee is 100% right

To speak to the overall theme here, I am against AI generated content, in writing, in music, in art and movies, all of it. I will never lay a claim to being an artist. I don't know how to 'properly' play any instruments, I just picked up what I know from trying, experimenting, and playing as I go along. At most, I'll say I use keyboards, guitars, and drums. I sing, but not well (no matter how I try to follow my four big influences). But I still played in two bands. I filled in with other bands on occasion. I had a noise in my head, and I messed around with various instruments until I could get it out, writing down how to play in ways I would understand (I cannot read music for the life of me). I did all this while AI was coming around and getting used more, but I never touched the stuff. You don't need to know how to do this stuff to be a musician, you just got to try, to play. So, you certainly don't need AI.

I've seen some rock/metal musicians try to do ambient before, to mixed results (Lou Reed succeeded with "Metal Machine Music", Hank III's ambient album was less than stellar, and Scott Walker was an obvious genius), so I don't know what to really say about Lombardo's new project until the full thing is out, but the first single is alright.

Deep Purple, to me, are still one of the thresholds for what heavy metal is. The genre has moved on quite a bit over the decades, and a lot of that 70's metal isn't even considered metal anymore (some of the 80's stuff, too), but DP will always be metal to me. Their classic run of albums, "Perfect Strangers", and even some of the newer stuff, are evergreen, and they are still highly influential. Like, would you even have power metal without the influence of Deep Purple and its' members?

Haven't listened to anything new this week, mostly relistening to a mix of things (Ahab, the Monkees, Y&T, assorted Monkees solo projects). That said, looking forward to the new albums by Europe (hoping they continue in their more metal direction) and Scene Queen coming in September. Also still looking forward to Anthrax and Micky Dolenz, also in September. It will be a very good month for me, musically at least.

Battlesnake released a new video for their recent single "Mud Apocalypse". Anyone who hasn't seen or heard them, having seen them myself playing in support of Castle Rat in Southampton this week, I highly recommend them 🤘
